Yeah, i met this guy online and I can't stop thinking about him. We talk every day and I'm starting to actually have feelings for him. We've sent each other photos and little love letters and stuff and gotten to know each other. But is it possible that relationships can last when we're so far away and never actually met?

YES, but only with true commitment, meaning keep them e-mail, instant messaging, phone calls going at all times. Basicly you have to know what you want from eachother and im sure you want the communication. Without communication you wont have a chance at all. If you are able and willing to wait until next year and you both agree on that then you MUST stick to it if you really want this relationship to last until you meet. lots of things can happen between now and a year from now but i do believe in long distance love as long as there is a date set to meet even if it is one year away.

If communication stops anytime throughout that year until you meet then id move on , like i said "keeping the communication open and REAL" matters the most online and off and even if it wasnt long distance to wait a year can be a good thing, its just much harder to never have met someone in person and knowing him or her from just online communication, you have to be a strong person . Where there is a WILL there is always a WAY :)

While it is certainly possible, it would be very very hard. Both of you have very separate lives, lives away from the computer, and while your relationship on-line can't really change that much (assuming you don't meet in the near future) your lives around you are (in the real world, for want of a better term). Much as you might feel for this person, remember that a relationship in the outside world will be more fulfilling than any on-line one and it is probably only a matter of time before one of you finds someone out there. Whatever you do, don't ignore humanity around you in favor of what is on here (the computer). That is just a poor substitute for living. And life is too short.

YES! I lived in Virginia and my boyfriend lived in the Philippines. I gave up my job, family, everything just to go and be with him. He even helped pay for my flight over there! We was so deeply, madly in love. My HEART told me to GO 4 IT! So i did. Now, I'm 1 of the happiest people on earth. So yes you can have a long distance relationship even though you never met. The best thing to use is a Web Cam! At least you see who is behind the computer and talking with you and that you make the both of you face to face. Don't give up on someone even if they are far, far away, especially if they mean the world to you. Good Luck.

I faced the same situation before. It won't work coz somehow you do not know him that well and never met him in person. The feelings will be different when you see him with your own eyes. Thinking back, I felt like I'm dumb coz i could not recognize him at all when he came to see me. He is just so different from what i expected. I really dun feel dat in love with him when i knew it's him that i saw. So weird but dat was what happened to me.

Long distance relationship can work as long as the both of u are having the same feelings for each other. I think u need to be careful with this guy, how much do u really know about him. The pictures he sent u, are u sure it is really him or could it be someone else. I am not saying u are wrong for doing what u are doing I just want u to think about things and be careful. Some of the people that are on line to meet someone are not always trustworthy. I hope u know what u are doing. If u do know this guy as much as u think u do then good luck and have fun.

Personally I think you are wasting your time. I think the biggest attraction is the fantasy that lives within your own mind rather that the real world around you. The chances of it working out as you see it through your mind is probably more far out than if you were to just meet a nice guy who is local to you. People are more likely to cheat on another when they know the other person probably won't find out, with long distance, there is a smaller chance of being caught. You'll figure it out as you get older. I'm not saying its impossible, just not probable.

This is a great opportunity to get to know someone in a way that most people cannot.

The physical part of relationships should come last. here is your chance to build a great relationship.

How many times have you heard storys of pen pals in the pre internet days falling in love and then meeting and falling in love and getting married.

Until you actually meet in real life, I do not believe you have a relationship. It is after you have met and then separated and gone back online that you will know if it will work. Do not fool yourself into thinking you have anything more at this point. You may regret it.
