I am a christian but don't agree with most of the Doctrine. The teachings of Jesus is enough for me to live by.
Anyways, everytime I ask a question about the divinty(the 'is Jesus God' thing) then I am called 'a muslim that don't understand the bible'. No offense to muslims at all!!!

Why do some insist that you have to accept church doctrine to be a christian?

I used to be a Christian until I reverted to islam 4 1/2 years ago. I also asked many questions growing up and was told "You only need faith. It's wrong to question". Oh, yeah, and it was lutheran church. They never gave me a straight answer. Never answered a single question. When I started learning about Islam 10 years ago, all of my questions were answered. All that was left was for me to take Shahada which I did while everyone slept. My husband hadn't any idea that i was so interested in this religion. When he woke up, I said to him "honey, I took shahada during the night. I am a muslim now" He was happy and quizzed me on a lot of stuff.

I think if you have doubts, you should do your own research and follow your heart. Islam is not for everyone just as Christianity is not. Go according to your needs and what you believe at the time. We are always changing.

The concept of Trinity is in the core of Christianity. The morals and teachings of all religiona are almost the same. If you do not believe Jesus (p.b.u.h.) was a god, which he wasn't, which part of Chrisitanity, that is specific to Christianity, do you believe in? If you are a Muslim who does not understand the Bible, try understanding what you need to undersand to be a Muslim.

May Allah guide you through the path of truth and enlighten your heart. May Allah's mercy overwhelm us all.

because they don't understand what a Christian is.

See Christian have many religions in it and they believe they speak for the entire Christian religion. Most of the time they are right, (they are speeking to non Christians), but in you case they don't understand.

See all Christianity is is the belief in Jesus Christ as the son of God, that's it. If you believe that you are Christian, no Bible, church, or anything else needed.

Narrow-mindedness, just like the idea that if you do not go to church every Sunday you will surely rot in hell. And so the only explanation if you sound different is that you must be a Muslim.

the word Christ is taken from the word christian. so if you want to be a christian you have to accept the teachings of the bible from begging to end, you cant choose what you want and don't want!!
no one is forcing you to do something, either take it all or leave it, easy as that.
