A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

With love in Christ.

Roman Catholics are a form of Christianity. However, there are major differences between them and Protestantism for example, because they have a major focus on the teaching of the Pope through Natural Law. Protestants would focus more on what the Bible says. They also worship in a slightly different way; it is much more ritualistic. It's not that they are so different - they believe the same fundamental things, but in the smaller things each denomination thinks that they are right, and so clashes happen. Most recently the biggest clash has been when the Pope said that Catholicism is the only way you can be saved. This angered other Christians, as they are all following exactly the same beliefs.

In the strictest deffinition, Roman Catholics are a cult, not a religion. They have taken other writtings, and put them on a level of higher authority than the Bible: such as their catachism.

The Bible says that we are saved by grace through faith, but the Catholics say we are saved by a combination of faith and good works. Saying that Christ's sacrifice on the cross wasn't suffieient is blasphemous.

Catholics changed the Ten Commandments. They took out the Second Commandment that say we shouldn't make any graven image and bow down to it. In order to keep the number of commandments at ten, they split the tenth into two parts, and made it the ninth and tenth.
Getting back to the Second Commandment, You should bow down to, or worship a statue. Catholics say they don't worship Mary or the saints, they "venerate" them. Not really sure what the word venerate ment, I look it up in a "Catholic dictionary". According to the Catholic dictionary, the word venerate means "to worship".

Catholics say that Mary had an Immaculate conception, meaning she was born without sin. The Catholics say that's the only way Mary could have brought a sinless Christ into the world. But if that's true, wouldn't Mary's mother Ann also need to have an Immaculate conception to bring Mary into the world without sin? And what about Ann's mother, Ann couldn't be born with sin. Think about it.

When you're a Catholic, you never know if you're saved. If you had a good last day, you may sneak into heaven, or you may go to pergatory, which is like part time hell. The Bible is clear, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". When the thief repented to Christ on the cross, our Lord said today you will be with me in paradise.

Others here have refered to Transubstanation, So I don't think I have to expand on that.

Roman catholics are polytheists. They have an almost unlimited number of gods and goddesses. Their primary deity is mary. This is the veiled persona of the ancient godess and mother earth figure. SOme catholics will call themselves christian to hedge their bets, but if you wander into one of their temples you will clearly see that the goddess is a huge figure while the christ is seen either as a small child (only the offspring and visable sign of the goddess' fertility) or as a sacrifice to the godess.
WHen a catholic enters the temple, traditionally they dabb themselves with "holywater" yet another godess sign from ages back. They then proceed to light small fires to the godess, say prayers, as favors of her statue (odd the number of graven images in a catholic temple). then, some of them will quickly knee before the sacrificed son and return to their seat to say more prayes to the mother goddess (rosary etc).

Christians, on the other hand hold only one true God, the original creator of the universe. According to their beliefs, he sent one son to make a sacrifice to wipe away the "sin" and therefore the barrier between God and man. Christians therefore pray directly and only to God. All prayers are directed to the deity and only at the end, the mention of the son's name for the sake of invoking the promise of the sacrife for the purpose of ensuring the diety will hear the prayers. No graven images, no godess worship, no pletora of minor gods (the "saints" in catholic temples). Nice and simple interaction between God and man.

One of the main differences is the worship of saints. As example christianity does not recognize Mother Mary as more than a woman God used for a divine purpose. You need to plug into the internet the Name Luther. He was the one that started the movement away from Roman Catholism. The rich of the church were buying absolvement for their sins before they did them. This upset Martin Luther and he posted his letter on the door and started Christianity as we know it.

The person who asked this question is a naght before the Almighty. Do what GOD has told you to do. What GOD tells. Ask your conscience. You will then understand that all religions are true but the followers are wrong. ASK WHAT RELIGION SHOULD GIVE TO YOU BUT ASK WHAT U CAN DO TO SAFEGUARD A RELIGION. Whatever religion you belong the inner voice is common to everyone. So God is one and let us not discuss and interpret his ideals. If possible try to shut your mouth and don't spread gossips like the Da vinci Code. No one can imagine the power of the Creator. We are naughts before the Almighty. If you fail to establish a Society without selfishness before 21-3-2028 then mind you nothing of this Earth will be left.
