Dear Muslim....your assistance please?

Question

I am Christian and I’m looking for a specific verse in the Quran and to me it explains a true Muslim or even any follower of God/Allah. It goes something like: “…if someone is mean to you, reply with gentle word of kindness”
I read it before but can’t remember where. So if you would be so kind to help me out, I’d appreciate it.

25:63: In the Name of Allah: 'And the (faithful) slaves of the Most Gracious (Allah) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness'.

It is difficult to find a particular verse to answer your question since Muslims are commanded to return a greeting with one that is equal to or better than the greeting received, but never to be kind to one who is mean to you, since "mean" can mean so many fifferent types of injuries or insults.
The Muslim is commanded to defend himself/herself from oppression as the Quran states that oppression is worse than slaughter, and this is the role of the Muslim, that Allah gives the Muslim no right to war against someone who wants peace, as Islam is a peaceful lifestyle..
By the way, Allah is the name of Allah, the OInly True God and Allah should not be confused with God since god is ilah, and we do not worship the same God. There is a short Surah called Kafirun, which commands us to say, " I do not worship what you worship...."
There are various translations of the Quran around but there is not one Honest Translation of the Quran, so you have got to be careful about what you refer to as Quran, and the scholars have so far refused to amend the errors of the past since they may not want to be embarassed.

" And the servants of Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, "Peace!"
Those who spend the night in adoration of their Lord prostrate and standing;
Those who say, "Our Lord! avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous,-
Evil indeed is it as an abode, and as a place to rest in";
Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not *********, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes);
Those who invoke not, with GOD, any other god, nor slay such life as GOD has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not only) meets punishment.
(But) the Penalty on the Day of Judgment will be doubled to him, and he will dwell therein in ignominy,-

Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful,
And whoever repents and does good has truly turned to Allah with an (acceptable) conversion;-
Those who witness no falsehood, and, if they pass by futility, they pass by it with honourable (avoidance);
Those who, when they are admonished with the Signs of their Lord, droop not down at them as if they were deaf or blind;
And those who pray, "Our Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous." Quran 25:63-74.

But forgive and overlook, till Allâh brings His Command. Verily, Allâh is Able to do all things.

-say peace to the ignorants and turn away from them!

[89] So turn away from them (O Muhammad (peace be upon him)) and say: Salâm (peace)! But they will come to know.

[118] And say (O Muhammad (peace be upon him)) "My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of those who show mercy!"

I can't claim to be able to translate Quran, but the verse says that one should put forward, or present, what is best (in behavior, in treatment, in manners, in speech, etc...) and he'll find that even that who is his enemy is like a close friend.

A'ishah said, "A party of Jews saw Muhammad, and said `Death upon you." I answered, `Rather upon you be death and curse'. Then Muhammad said, `Be mild, O`A'ishah! and make a point of being kind, and withhold thyself from speaking harshly.'

Noble Verse 13:22 "Those who patiently persevere, seeking the countenance of their Lord; establish regular prayers; spend out of (the gifts) We have bestowed for their sustenance, secretly and openly; and turn off evil with good: for such there is the final attainment of the (Eternal) Home."

Noble Verse 23:96 "Repel evil with that which is best: We are Well-acquainted with the things they say."

Noble Verse 41:34 "Nor can goodness and evil be equal. Repel (evil) with that is better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate!."

[002:263] Kind words and the covering of faults are better than charity followed by injury. God is free of all wants, and He is Most-Forbearing.

[029:046] And argue not with the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), unless it be in (a way) that is better (with good words and in good manner, inviting them to Islamic Monotheism with His Verses), except with such of them as do wrong, and say (to them): "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you; our Ilah (God) and your Ilah (God) is One (i.e. Allah), and to Him we have submitted (as Muslims)."

[017:028] But if thou turnest from them, seeking mercy from thy Lord that thou hopest for, then speak unto them gentle words.

[017:028] And if you turn away from them to seek mercy from your Lord, which you hope for, speak to them a gentle word.
