I saw a good deal, I think?, on ebay and was wondering what are the basic things to know in regards to buying a projection TV.

What are your experiences with them?

Myself, I was looking for something that would easily connect to a computer to serve as a monitor. I see them in classrooms all the time during presentations and wanted something kind of like that but I don't know exactly what I'm looking for. If I can't find a good one for the computer I'd settle for one that just works as a giant TV.

I think you are better off with a front projector. LCD or DLP projectors are small, lite and portable. You can connect a PC, DVD, VCR, Cable or Satellite receiver and even gaming consoles. You can find many under $800.00. Pair it with a giant projection screen and you'll have a nice Home Theater.

Plasma or LCD Flat panel TV's would be your best bet. They are the best equipped sets for multi-media formats such as pc. Not only do they offer Digital Video Inputs, they are also multi-scan devices, so have the best compatibility with pc video scan rates. They also provide the best contrast and resolution for text and graphics. Rear projection TV's do offer good value for the dollar in terms of large screen size for the smallest bucks, but plasma's are getting there. Hitachi has a very affordable 55" plasma TV not too far past projection TV pricing.

Go to www.crutchfield.com, in their home theater or TV section, and you can read all about them. Personally I feel the newer plasmas & LCD's offer much better pictures than projection TV's do.
