It did end today, for the people who died today. The End of the World is just a metaphor for our certain mortality. We are all going to die someday and there is no avoiding it.
A farmer walked by a stream and saw a fox drowning in it. 'Halp,' the fox screamed,'the world is ending.'
The farmer continued walking, 'I dont see the world ending, I only see one fox drowning.'
