a nice bonus or maybe a raise, since you wont be there for a bit, who else is gonna give her that well deserved raise? (unless your canning her... haha) i would stick with the bonus, nothing like fruit baskets or any cheesy crap like that, it has to be money or meaningful, anything else just makes you look like you dont really appreciate much... i dunno, you didnt have any answers when i went to answer so maybe you have a better one then this, im just rambling sorta

It depends how pretty she is and what you're thanking her for! If you are her sole boss, and she has been a really good worker then a small non-romantic present (not diamonds!) to about half the worth of her monthly salary and she will remember you as a warm and generous person who valued her. It's a small world and your paths may cross again in the future. For the same reason it better to give nothing than something cheap and thoughtless. It may just be a nice idea to take her for a thank you lunch at a reasonably exclusive resturant.
Failing everything, give her a beautiful bouqet of flowers and ten minutes of your time.

I live in the UK and it's quite common now to be given spa treatment vouchers for thank you's or general presents at work. Personally I thought it was a bit personal to give something like this to a co-worker, but it's very common. Most are very very appreciative after they've enjoyed their pamper, saying they would never have done it for themselves.
It's hard to know how to respond as we don't know where you are. Also available in the UK at any Smiths or bookstores are Adventure Vouchers which are vouchers you purchase for a set price that can be exchanged toward things like Hot-Air Balloon rides or a Glider Ride or White-water rafting or driving a Formula One race-car on a real track, etc. You get the idea.
A Gift certificate to a very high-end womens store (House of Frasier, Dior, etc.) is certainly nice; but make sure you look into it so you give her enough of a gift to genuinely purchase something.
Good luck

I guess after 2 1/2 years you'll know her very well now, her likes and her favourites.
Example : If she loves handbags, buy her a real expensive one, something U think she won't be able to afford.
But if U are clueless about stuff she likes, get her a jewellery set, works for most women I know. Let her feel appreciated.
Well... assuming your secretary is a woman!

You should have given more information, which oversea office, how old is she, what are her interests etc. If its an overseas office i would buy something from your country and of course not too heavy to send. you can always go for perfume or bodylotion or something like that or a book or a cd if there is anything you know she would like or send flowers

I'd go for a bottle of their favourite wine, and possibly a bunch of flowers.
Personal enough to show that you care, but not so personal as to cause offence.
I'd also take the whole team out for a drink in the pub for lunch on you're last day.

I reckon a voucher from her favourite shop. Most people appreciate Body Shop stuff or even a record shop voucher.

Get her a piece of jewellery (i.e necklace, earrings) to remind her of your working time together, and a thankyou card. Then you could her give a monetary bonus (depending on your income) to show her your appreciation of her time and effort to your career.
