I notice that in areas of the country where people exercize more ,for example near the ski mountains, there seems to be much fewer people with "gland problems" or a "fat genes". I also notice that there are far fewer people with these "medical conditions" in foreign countries where they eat healthier and in more moderate amounts.

Yes. Some people are obese because of irreversible genetic disorders or adverse side effects of medication. For most people, which is 95% of obese people have no excuses. They eat too much of the wrong kinds of food and don't move enough. Ask a triathlete how much he/she eats, and you'll know that calories isn't an issue. It's about eating the right kinds of food, and treating food like fuel. In fact, endurance athletes are notorious for carb-loading. Obesity is about lard, over-consumption and not enough activity. Go out and cycle or run. IT works. I lost 30 lbs in 6 months that way without counting anything.

I don't know about "areas of the country" --there are a lot of ski resorts close to where I live and there's as many fat people as anywhere else. I think what you're seeing is the rich people who can afford personal trainers and surgery--unless you've got some kind of graph/statistics, in which case post a link.
I personally hate the word "excuse"--everything is a choice. It's just that in the US some choices are easier to make than others. If you want to eat quickly and cheaply, there's nothing but fast food. And don't let sandwich shops lure you into thinking their stuff is healthier--read the fine print about condiments, dressing, cheeses, etc and you'll see that you get a lot less than you think you will for your money. And even they offer "meal deals" with a bag of greasy, fat-filled potato chips and liquid sugar soda.

No excuse, except for some diseases, though they might be cured nowadays too. Obesity is usually because of consuming too many calories (even eating fat-free meal; carbs do even worse!) and lack of physical activity. Some time ago I've read an article that one more reason for overweight might be genetically modificated food and also because chicken and other "meat" animals are treated with growth hormones and antibiotics which have such side effect on people.

There sure are excuses. Be careful, what goes around comes around. You criticize others for any reason, chances are that you will be paid back double-fold. Yes, there are reasons and stop looking at me as if I am gross. I do have just cause.

I believe additives in food make people hungrier, and growth hormones in milk and meat also contribute.

somtimes people gain weight on purpose, like if they have been sexually abused. reasoning? to make themselves appear less attractive, or in a girls case, to unfeminize her body, often the same goal of anorexics.

obesity is caused by consuming more calories than you expend. Unfortunately, in north america, everything you can buy fat and cheap is full of extra calories. and people don'tget enough exercise
