Chronic depression denotes duration of the illness as being longer than 5 years and intermittent and on-going.

Clinical depression is the diagnosis of depression that meets the criteria of the severity of symptoms over a period of one month.

Clinical depression could last for a brief time, longer than a month but less than six, and never reoccur, but not be chronic.

The words depression or depressed are often misused. People don't "get" depressed, they get sad. If it lasts for a long time (months) and you can't seem to get out of bed or do any work no matter how much you try, then you're probably depressed. It sounds like you could be fading into a depression, but as it stands, that's not depression. You're experiencing a lot of sadness, though.

Both terms are used for the same i.e. DEPRESSION just fancy names for what the conventional doctors do not understand neither do they have a clue about how to treat and cure so they just invent different names .That's what they are good for any way just inventing names for something they can not and do not understand.
If they stop treating the disease and start treating the patient they will be able to treat them successfully and cure them instead of just making up names for everyday ailments. :-) !
Basically its the doctors incompetence in finding cures !
Take Care and God Bless you !
