I'm not known for my sporting prowess but would love to learn how to play? Is it an easy game to master?

Thanks

It is a very frustrating game i am only 15 and have recently taken it up as a pastime. One day you will have a good day and the very next day you will play very badly. You just have to keep playing to get used to what works for you. Investing in lessons would be a good idea although they are not essential.

Ladies pick the game up a lot faster than most men. I can help you get the most out of your program. This is woman's golf week. Go to www.playgolfamerica.com to find a list of promotions in your are this week for women. Let me back up -
There are several new programs that keeps everything fun and simple. First Swing and Link Up 2 Golf will teach you everything you need to know from the time you get to the parking lot until you go home. The cost is between $100.00 to $149.00 for 6 hours of golf instruction and 3 trips on the golf course. You do not need to purchase any equipment and I suggest you wait until you know what you like. Keep thing simple and have fun.

This is why I think ladies pick up golf faster than men - I help develop and test some of these new golf programs. Two years ago I did some couples group lesson. All beginners. Every couple the lady could hit the ball better than the man after 4 weeks. The men would come out and practice more but that didn't help. I think the ladies listen better. I see a lof of ladies spending a lot of time on the driving range. A lof of my golfers work for NASA. I think our best golfer playing from the regular tees is one of the top NASA engineers. She is small but she hits the ball very good.

Good Luck

Here is the hard part for ladies on the golf course - Men fill it's our duty to help a lady on the golf course.

Men always try to help ladies out on the golf course. When I'm working with a group of ladies, every time a turn around someone is trying to help one of the ladies out. You can't keep changing you swing every time someone says something if you want to have fun. That goes double when you play, when you try something new it makes your worse before you get better. Golf instruction stays on driving range.

I have lots of good links on my blog roll

The easiest way to learn golf like a pro is by following "The Simple Golf Swing" program. It's primarily a 31 page eBook that teaches golfers how to make solid contact with the ball, how to avoid hitting fat, how to avoid slicing, how get more power, accuracy, and consistency in your swing. Consistency being the number 1 golf skill.

You not only get the eBook though, you also receive a ton of extra material including video, lessons on putting, driving, chipping, sand play etc. Here is their official site: http://www.golfswingguru.net

I've played since college time, and thought it was quite a stupid game, as I play soccer, tennis, swimming, among other sports, and pretty good at those as well. Golf for me then was like going to a shooting range, trying to hit as far as possible beating my brother. Now, I'm in love with it.
You could get so good with golf, then stop for three months, and hold the club up in your hands and don't know what to do with it. It's doesn't require physical strength like tennis these days, definitely not like soccer (let alone football-- in your american way). But, let me tell you, it's a life time game. You can play it until you can't stand up right. I've seen Gene Sarazen hit the openning ball at the Master at the age of over 70 (I think he died now). Jack Niklaus can still beat me any time.
Of course it's frustrating: If you right handed, play with your left. The only thing I could think of that make you wear your glove only one hand. The club is very long, but the face is so tiny. The ball is as hard as a rock, try mishit it, hurt your hands, elbow and fingers like hell. The target hole is hundred of yards away, AND BLOODY HELL THEY DO IT EIGHTEEN TIMES!!!!

Hit a good shot, you'll never forget and long to hit it even once more. If I can't sleep, I think of my beautiful drives that the ball flew over the tree lines cutting through the sky curving into the beautiful green fairway rolling fifteen more yards, while friends said: What a shot!!!! I can sleep!!

Golf is not an easy game to play. It takes lots of work and a life-time to master (If you are lucky!!!!!!!!!!) But it don't mean you can't get out there and start hacking! Best thing for your is to just get out ther and do it under the instruction of a competent teacher. And enjoy the game!!!!!

Golf is almost the hardest game to play. It is hard mentally, and that is where most pople lose. Hitting the ball is one thing, but using the right club for the right shot, then making the gball go where you want is very tough over and over again.

You have it or you don't, the thing is starting. Is the hardest part and if you want to be good you need to practice a lot, but I have seen people just taking their first swing and it looks like they've been playing for years. That really tick me off, because I have been playing sines i was 15 years old. It's bag of fun, you shooed really try it, you mate like it for the rest o you life!

In whatever you do, you need to enjoy it. so if you do like golf, play as often as you want, and get some pro instructor to teach you the fundamentals so you'll appreciate it more, by practicing the art of the swing.. happy golfing. and i wonder when or if ever we get to play? i'm in the Philippines. lots of nice courses here. And relatively cheaper membership shares too.

Instead of thinking it as a difficult game, I would say its a very challenging game.

If you keep at it, you will enjoy the challenge.

Even after 43 Vijay Singh is still isnt happy with his swing, thats how game of golf challenges you.
