You could call a town official & ask....maybe try the Health Dept & ask what guidlines need to met so that you dont get fined if someone sees you doing it.....just call around..it is a good idea....if they are all healthy.....

Its never wise to release a non-native species into the wild.
It is likely not legal to release 50 budgies into a city such as LA.

nice idea but I would make sure they can survive. Are they suitable to the climate and pollution?
Parrots sure would be nice though and they can bite back if anyone harasses them. I used to have a friend parrot and white crow I visited often. The parrot was known to bite everyone else but never hurt me. It even stood on my hand until one day an ignorant man walked in and called the parrot a suck. It freaked it out because I jumped and I never trusted it again though I tried to soothe it.
The white crow was always my friend too. It was rescued because all the black crows attacked it. We became good friends. It trusted me and sometimes, though rarely, would sit on my hand. It always came over to be close to me. Birds are special and should be treated with respect as should everything. Nature knows when you truly love it. Bless all birds.
Heaven's messengers are birds amongst much else, always remember crows are protectors, warning animals and people of danger including bad vibes of people. They are angels even if they are jealous of the white ones.

1) never dump animals into the wild- ask ASPCA
2) unless you can guaranteed their survival it would be cruel- like leaving a new born ....
3) it may be illegal and you can get fined
Best idea is to have people adopt them post on http://craiglist.com
as for as pigeons, there would be not so many if it was not for :
1)human garbage
2) feeding them in parks and other places

That's what some ding-dong thought about the starlings that he brought over from England. Invasive species. Do you have them there? Lots of them? Pooping on everything? Why don't you put up some peregrin nest boxes? They eat pigeons, and starlings.

I think it is......if you are trying to get rid of your budgies then you might want to release them to the ASPCA. But why did you get budgies in the first place if you are just going to release them?

If you did that the other wild birds would more then likely kill them off, you would be giving those poor birds a death sentence.

it prolly wouldn't be illegal. the state of florida has had so many 'escapee' budgies that it now has its own, wild, self-sustaining flocks of 'em.
