(I am a Muslim). Allah is an Arabic word and god is its translation in English. We do call Allah god. Allah and god have the same meaning it is just in different languages.

I think I know the answer to your question. A muslim man was talking about it on TV yesterday. He said that the worg God can be used in various ways. It can be used to describe pagan gods. It can be changed to word like godess. Muslims believ that the word Allah defines their God perfectly, better than the english word God.

Because Allah is God. It's their own version of calling the God or our Almighty, Allah.

The one true God has many names. I believe the name "Allah" refers to the same God you refer to as, "_______" when you pray. Don't come down on Islam, worry more about what God thinks of you.

[041:037] The night and the day, and the sun and the moon are among His signs. Do not bow before the sun, or before the moon. Rather, prostrate before Allah, the One Who created them, if it is He Whom you want to worship (exclusively)!
God is God, regardless. I am a muslim, and I know that Allah is only arabic for God. God is English for Allah. Elohim is Hebrew for God. God is English for Elohim. Elohim=Allah=God. God=Allah=Elohim

You have drawn a most accurate conclusion - common sense does prevail within yahooers - way to go and may God be given the glory for opening your eyes to the Truth of what he has been teaching us for many years.
