I think you need to go too a local gun shop and see which gun fits you best. Then you must consider your own body size and how much recoil you can handle. You need to decide on a caliber that is large enough to do the job quickly but one that has light enough recoil to make it possible to target shot and become good with. If recoil is too high then it will keep you from practice. You may also want to consider price of ammo when you make this choice. Especially since many calibers will be good choices but some will cost more then others. Being in Germany i am not sure if it is possible to get the newer American rounds, but if you do have access to them the new Winchester 325 wsm may be good choice since it uses a 8mm round, may be cheaper for you to reload.

A good .45auto handgun works great for boar/pig hunting but if it must be a rifle I know that winchester makes a good lever action that shoots .45acp's(pistol rounds). Pistol rounds like the .45 are cheaper than rifle rounds and usually decent quality pistols are cheaper than rifles of the same quality. If pig meat makes good money I would suggest investing in a newer model Kimber 1911, It's accurate, powerful and very reliable.

I personnley like a 270 or 30-06 ---good all around big game rifle----although the 06 has more bullet weight combinations for reloading----from 90 grains to over 200 grains ----so with the same rifle you can varmit hunt or big game hunt.

I use a 8x57 IS, (11.5 grams with 195 grains) with a Ziess 3-12x56 scope (I hunt at night for pig in Germany). I've found that this round will stop a pig in it's tracks, and not do damage to the meat (hydrostatic shock).

i would go with a 22-250 or 6mm/243 for accuracy.head and lung shots, less meat damage.topped with a 3-9 Leupold gold ring scope that can add an extra hour hunting time (great lite gathering scope) a 308 cal with 180 gr bullets if heavy cover and a lot of running shots. both work great for me on deer, bear, and wild boar.

Depends on the area - heavy brush or wide open. If heavy I like the 306 lever action by Winchester or a shotgun, if open I like the 30-06 Browning.

Not sure from your post if you're in Au currently. But I'd look at anything from the 270 Winchester on up with a well built bullet.

A .417WSM is a good round to use. If you can't find that...try a land mine(just kidding) .45-70 winchester is also good
