New York to DC is 229 miles, pretty much all of it on I-95.
You can do it in around four hours.

Philadelphia is right along the way. Independence Hall, the Art Museum and Cheese Steaks spring to mind.

Baltimore is more or less on the way. Fort McHenry and seafood, especially crab, the Inner Harbor.

assuming you mean New York City to Washington DC,
it's 232 miles city center to city center. (about 3-4 hours)

you would pass near/through Phildelphia and Baltimore, both of which have many sites to see.
