I think it is a bunch of stories made up - fairytale like tales more or less. If people found out that this was true they would probably just toss the book aside - recycle it, burn it, whatever - there will always be the true believers and the book will never go away.

What do you think would happen if people found out that outer space was empty? What would happen if people found out that the stars were just a reflection of waves on the oceans refracted by sunlight opposite the observer's position on Earth? "IF" is one of the biggest words in the English language. IF the Holy Bible is "full of it", then should we do exactly the opposite of what is decreed in the Ten Commandments? Think about that. All Ten Commandments. Should we slander our fathers and mothers? Should we kill indescriminately? Let you boss work your butt to death seven days a week like a slave? Should we have lust, rape and adultery taught to our children so that they may be better people? Should we shoplift, burglarize, and steal everything we desire? Should we go to court and and lie so that we can send the innocent to prison and/or their deaths? Should we have our way with our neighbor's wife, or take whatever their belongings for our own greedy use? Should we curse in whatever means we choose whether or not we offend anyone? Should we create idols to pray to? So, asking what would happen "IF" people found out the Bible was full of it is a legitimate question, the answer is pretty simple. A true believer would never believe such a statement. Just like telling a scientist that there is no such thing as the Periodic Table of the Elements. You'll never convince him otherwise. BUT ask a scientist "IF" God exists, he will tell you there is no evidence to support that theory. Yet, how many scientists go to church? Just because you can't prove it, doesn't mean God doesn't exist. Just because I can't see an Aethiest from where I'm sitting doesn't mean one doesn't exist. So, would you rather be safe, or sorry? I truly hope that one day we all find a way to co-exist. But in order to do that, we would probably have to refer to the Bible and the Ten Commandments to teach us ALL right from wrong. No matter what your religion, the Ten Commandments should at the VERY LEAST be considered Ten Good Ideas.

Most of you guys are complete morons! (no disrespect of course)
"evolution has been proven wrong" Ha! You've obviously been a victim of a faulty education system. Where's you go to school? Kansas? (snicker snicker)
The Bible served its purpose when science was unable to provide real answers. Now that Science is so much better, we don't need myths to explain the universe to us.
I know that most of you get 'warm fuzzies' from religion, but that doesn't mean it's true. I get warm fuzzies when I listen to Guns n Roses, or when I see a pretty girl, or when I read about a new scientific discovery.
The first part of the Bible, up to about Abraham, cannot be true based on scientific and historical data. Noah's flood could not have happened. It would have left behind some sort of trace. Dinosaurs had to have lived sometime, and it wasn't in the last 6000 years. Evolution is one of the soundest theories out there. There is no debate between scientists about evolution. It's established as the best possible explanation for the variety of life. There are Hominid skeletons spanning the past nearly million years.
I know it's useless arguing about religion, but I just want to go on record saying that you are all hypocrites unless you denounce ALL science. You can't have it both ways just when it's convenient.

Belief in a greater power does not necessarily mean believing in a book written thousands of years ago.
I agree The bible is a bunch of stories put together by man and not god. I mean look at how many times the bible has been changed. King James changed it so that he could under the graces of the church get divorced. Look at how many times the bible has been translated from it ordinal language. You think nothing was lost in translation?
I will however always believe in A power grater than you and I (If you want to call that power God so be it.)

Well, my spiritual convictions recently changed and I now no longer think that everything in the Bible is the direct word of God, but really the words of humans, who are fallible, and which has also been lost in translation through the centuries.
I think that people like myself will look within to their own souls for spirituality and realize that God is not outside ourselves in reference books such as the Bible or in Church, but within each and every one of us.
I hope that when people realize this there will be a spiritual awakening amongst the world, where people realize that we are not separate beings but that each of us is a part of God, One.

it can never be proven or disproven, historical evidence from that era of time is very sketchy and there will never be enough to say without a reasonable doubt that something did or did not exactly happen, however there is enough historical evidence to prove that many of the people in the new testament did in fact exist, so at present there is probably more evidence supporting the bible than there is against it

It ain't gonna happen, people have tried for 3,000 years to prove the Old & New Testaments wrong. They are dead & in Hell & the Scriptures are still here & saving those who trust in Them. God said "I watch over My Word to perform It, It shall not return to Me void. It will accomplish the task whereunto I sent It." Jesus said, "Heaven & Earth Shall pass away (be changed) But My Words shall never pass away (be changed)."

True Christians would rely on their faith in Jesus Christ and the convicition of the Holy Spirit - and deal with it through prayer.
