The chicken came first. I believe this because of mutation and evolution. Eggs don't just pop out of the ground. You have to have a chicken to lay them. The chicken that we know today probably mutated from another bird. so therefore the chicken would come first. Things come from other living things. another thing that supports my theory is the simple fact that the egg would need something ( like a mother) to it warm. Biology 1-2 is a bit of a blurr to me but i believe that cells or bacteria will change over time and then they will mutate. Eggs don't just magically appear so there would have to be some sort of a chicken or a bird like animal to lay an egg. SO I'm convinced the chicken came before the egg. What do you think?

The chicken came before the egg, because the chicken would have evolved from an earlier form of bird without being in an egg first.

It depends on how you view the question.

Dinosaurs were laying eggs for millions of years before any birds existed.

However if you are talking specifically about chickens it would be the chicken regardless of your beliefs because if you believe God put all animals on Earth-it's the chicken, and if you believe in evolution the chicken evolved into a chicken, and was the first chicken to lay eggs!

Hope this adds to your confusion! :)

The egg came first. What laid the egg was very nearly a chicken, evolution-wise as it were. What developed inside the egg was the first chicken as they are today.

Both came first/ at once, because you can't have a chicken egg without a chicken and you can't have a chicken without a chicken egg. (Not speaking in terms of biotechnology)
