Not all cat's get fat. I have three cat's and they are all spayed. And all of them did gain a little weight but not alot. And my mom got her's spayed and her cat get really really fat. Some cat's just get fat. And you can leave food out for them all day. But if you are worried about getting to fat then you can but some special indoor food for them so they can mantain there wieght. I have had cat's my whole life. So some do and some don't.

No. My cat Ziggy is 8 yrs old now and skinny (all muscle). She's an indoor/outdoor cat and gets plenty of exercise. She was spayed before she was 9 mos old and I think that makes a difference. I have spayed or neutered all my cats at 8 to 9 mos old. The males never learn to spray their territory this way (saves the house!)

No, definitely not. I have 19 cats, all spayed or neutered, and very few of them are fat. It depends on the cat's eating habits, and if they get enough exercise. Are you considering getting yours spayed? We'll love you for it if you do!

All cats gain weight when they are spayed or neutered. It doesn't mean they get fat, but their healthy weight changes and they "fill in". They do this because the horomones are no longer there.

Usually but you can prevent it. My female got fat and the male was fine. I put them on a diet and now they are doing just fine. You can find "weight management" food . That kind of food that is low fat. They love it and now my fatty cat is not fat anymore!

No. If your cat has a weight problem, the vet can reccommend a premium pet food for "reduction"- if your cat is an indoor cat who is not very active that can explain the weight gain as well...

I have four cats.

They are all spayed.

One of them is a bit overweight, the other three are not.

They were all neutered/spayed within 6 months of each other, about 18 months ago.

Cats, like any animal, need exercise and good eating habits. Don't leave food out for it all day and feed it less with more exercise or send it to the kitty gym while you are at work.

No, I've only had one that got fat after that (and she got REALLY fat). But all the others stayed the same.
