He is a large breed dog. I've heard that eukanuba puppy for large breed is good. I have also been hearing that canidae all stages dog food is excellent too. Should I give him the all stages dog food or the puppy???? I'm hearing so many different things. Please help.

Buy the highest quality Large Breed PUPPY food you can afford. Puppy food contains the right amount of protein, fat and nutrients to help them through their growth. As your dog is a large breed you need to ensure that he is getting enough of these to prevent future health problems.

As far as the brand read the ingredient listings on the side of the bag to find out which one you are most comfortable with. It's not always the most expensive brand of dog food that is going to best for your dog.

Your vet can tell you what ranges of protein, fat and other essential nutrients that is best for your dog and they should also tell you how long to feed your dog puppy food for. Some breeds require puppy food for longer than others. Be careful though, some vets will try to sell you the brand of food that they sell and it is usually much more expensive than the other brands that you can purchase at a pet store. The foods that the vet sells are generally only needed if your dog has a health condition that theses "prescription" diets can help to control.

Ultimately just use your best judgment. By asking the question you have shown that you are a responsible and caring dog owner, keep it up and you will have a happy healthy dog in no time.

I breed giant breed dogs and we feed them puppy food only until 12 weeks, then they are switched to a Large Breed Adult. Read the labels and the foods you want to try and see what one sounds better and give it a try. My dogs did not do very well on the Canidae. They do great on Eukanuba. It does not mean one ffod is better than another. No food works for every dog.
At 4 months, there really is no need for the puppy. You do not want a large breed to grow too fast!!!!

No he's not ready!!!!!! Wait till at least 5 1/2 months if not 6... He is doing nothing unordinary for his age.... But regardless if size, his stomach is not yet ready for solids!!! And when you do start solids is should not go from 0 to 3 meals a day.... It should be started gradually with 1 teaspoon a day, then 2, and so on.... If you wait, you also don't have to do cereal at all... You can skip right to the good stuff that he will be interested in.. Just watch for allergic reactions carefully but not switching foods for 2 or 3 days... Also don't give too many bananas!!! They are very constipating... I started my first on cereal at 5 1/2 months... He didn't care for it.. Then I got carrots and he loved them!!!! He is now 3 1/2 and loves veggies and all kinds of food... He eats anything pretty much... He also has no food allergies... And is average height and weight... My second is 4 months old and much bigger than my first... He's fitting in 9 month old clothing as well... But I am still not starting solids till almost 6 months... He grabs my plate at dinner.. He watches vigilantly.. But his tummy is not developmentally ready yet...

For a golden doodle, if he is to be large, (there are smaller ones, and larger ones) I recommend Canidae all stages. If he is a smaller type of goldendoodle, give him Canidae puppy formula.
I raised my last litter on Canidae all stages, and they did splendidly!
The most gorgeous and healthy ever.
