Every book of the Bible from Genesis to Esther or so was a pretty strictly historical book. When the Bible uses parables it generally lets you know. And when it isn't meant to be literal it often deals with dreams or prophecies like Joseph's dream of the 7 ears of corn or Daniel's revelation in the book of Daniel. Otherwise it all means what it says. The fruit was just a fruit, no reason to think it anything else.

The Bible mentions "fruit." and thats it. some people like to think of it as an apple or a pomegranate. but it doesnt reallymatter.

But it symbolizes satan's tempation and the fall of man. When man partook of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they became sinful.

Fruit used to mean queer back in the 60's. I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were referring to the bible stories. Fruit could have been in referance to intercourse.
