i think as everyone gets older they think kids are losing respect for their elders and they are becoming ignorant. your parents said it about your generation and your grandparents said it about your parents. i do however agree that there are some things today's kids are going over board on. what 12 year old needs a cell phone? i dont think any of them do. just the other day i met a girl who was getting a tattoo for her 13 birthday. ive seen 10 year olds with their belly buttons pierced. and the clothes are getting more and more provocative. children do not need to be exposing that much of their body, they are children! they dont need to go get their hair and their nails done either.

Hi I'm Harry from Malaysia. In my point of view, I feel that today's generation of kids are only partially losing there respect for the elders. OK, there's no doubt we can see so much teens abandoned their parents and live outside but that doesn't means they think their old people annoying and want to get rid of them. Instead of that, they only want to learn the word 'INDEPENDENT' well; the teens don't want to depend on their parents anymore because they knew that their parents already went through so much problems just fulfilled their children's desires. So it's time for the teens to earn something for their parents. On the other hand, we can see some teens that only ruined their glowing future, the teens that being rude to the elders and the teens that destroyed themselves. Some teens still in a state that I would like to called it as 'un-awake'. The un-awake teens need times to go through their life, making mistakes and get to know the real society they are in right now. They need to make mistakes to learn something in their life. You can say that they are only respond to their friends more than family members and they don't give a damn about what happened to the world when every second past by. I'm also a 19 years old teen, I know what the teens are thinking about their life. But on the whole, we still can't conclude that teens are 'devils' or most of the teens are immature, they can't do anything good but problems. Now that's a false statement. The age of teens that is between 12 until 22 is the most vital in their life because that is time that decides whether they will change into a successful full-grown adult or miserable good-for-nothing person. Hope you can get some info from my view.

Kids today are our future. I think many of them are way smarter than we were, have more opportunities than we did. Many are responsible at an earlier age. However, I also think that because they have been raised at an affluent time, they have not learned to work as for what they get, and many of them feel entitled. I think they are meaner and more self centered than ever. Manners are a point. Taking a polite amount, saying please and thank you. I also hate to see their waste of things. Food especially, not respecting possessions because there is money to buy another one. I think the rise of divorce and "alternate lifestyles" has caused less ties to others and respect for family and heritage. And I think that many parents have not done well by their kids by showering them with things money can buy. Kids want money above all else sometimes and think they'll be rich because their parents are.

Some don't seem to respect themselves, so how do expect them to respect an elder. Teens have always felt they know what's going on since the beginning of time; feel like the world is there's...but this generation haven't been raised by real people. They have XBox baby sitters, wear pajamas in public, or wear bare-all clothes in public, drag their feet, think premarital sex is not only ok, but the norm, etc...SOME, not all!

Today's standards are much lower. Good role models are few and far between. Respect is becoming a thing of the past. Today's youth culture is nothing to be proud of. It's hard for me to imagine any decent future leaders coming out of this generation. These kids need to straighten up and fly right, as we used to say, or we could be done as a nation! I truly feel sorry for today's young people but I do pray for them.

we've got to respect the kid's sentiments and emotions too. because they are kids it is the duty of the parents and gurdians to see that their upbringing goes well. we cannot blame solely to the children that they are losing respect or being ignorant or vice versa. many factors are involved like; media, movies, computer games, internet and so on. all likes to play and enjoy their life but it is the guardians who should guide their children in a proper way so that the kids doesn't go off track. But of course today's generation of Kids are very intelligent.
