I hope that your dog has been properly vaccinated, including rabies. Any cut can get infected, especially if inflicted from a cat. If these are superficial wounds as you say, then disinfect with hydrogen peroxide, and then apply neosporin.

I would take the dog to vet and have it checked out, or at least watch for infection, my sister in law has a cat that would get into cat fights and she would have to fight the infection afterwards

Cats have alot of bacteria in their mouths, and cat bites tend to get very infected. Watch your dog carefully to catch any infection before it becomes serious.
Meanwhile, an ointment like neosporin will aid the healing.

If it's not deep, there's no point in taking him to a vet. Keep putting hydrogen peroxide or something unless it's dried up already. Really, it's nothing to worry about.
Oh yeah, don't pick your dogs scabs though. That leads to scarring =)

Sure dogs can get infected. Our duck was attacked by the neighbor's dog once. It had a hole so deep I could see the poor bird's internal organs. I spayed it with a lot of Bactine. The duck had a complete recovery.

Chances are he will be fine if he has had all of his shots. Just clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide and keep some neosporin on the cuts to keep the flys from laying eggs in the area.

So what happened to the poor cat?
Send your Nazi dog to behavior school
Just use any mild disinfectant on the scratches - I use acriflavine (yellow solution) or other non-iodine based stuff.

that's just Darwin at work there, any dog that big that get's whupped up by a cat needs to be eliminated from the food chain or it will screw things up for everybody.
