Becose people find them rude to say.
This is a cycle though and the words that are 'bad' and vulger now will be perfectly acceptable in 20~50 years or so.....
Some of the words are already starting to become more acceptable.
By the time they are accepted though, there will be new words to replace them.

Over many years 'curse' words have been chosen to be vulgar by the public, they are only bad because society has deamed them bad. Curse words are basically just considered rude words; usually connected with uneducated and/or lower class people.

Some of them are because some religions forbid physical pleasure, and as a consequence things like making love are regarded as dirty.
Others because they refer to bodily excretions which are indeed dirty. Nevertheless, I have never heard anyone calling another person "ear wax" trying to be offensive.
However, all of them are dirty because of conventional uses where the dirt is not in the word themselves, but in the intention of who uses it.

Because a lady doesn't cuss like a sailor. It just shows lack of class, ignorance and how uneducated you are when all you can think of are words that don't make any sense.

i dunno, kinda crazy. As the years go by, words become more and more acceptable though. I guess they were offensive generations ago and the trend continued.
