I don't know what is wrong with him. At the end of last week i noticed some blood in his urine but that has seemed to cleared up some but not all the way. He will eat only a few small bites of food a day, not even a thimble full and he will only drink a little bit. My husband and i have been putting pedialyte in a medicine dropper and force feeding it to him to try to get him back hydrated. When we bought him they claimed he was only about 10 months old but we were his third owner???? I think he is dying of old age but what are the symptoms of a dog dying of old age because according to from how old he was supposed to be when we bought him he is suppost to be only 3 1/2 yrs old! But he really seems so much older since his teeth have changed and gotten really bad in the past year! Please someone help! I have told my husband that he needs to go to the vet tomorrow regardless of money but i need advice from other dog owners about the whole situation, thanks i appreciate it!

The papers we got when we bought him didn't even seem like they belonged to him and was from an off name kennel club. can't remember the name but not one i have ever heard of!

Thank you for all of your input, he is doing much better now and was diagnosed with a bad kidney infection and is on antibiotics and is slowly regaining his strength! Thanks!

Blood in the urine is a very serious condition. There are many reasons that this is occurring. Anything from a UTI to renal failure. Have him seen by a vet to determine the cause.

There is something wrong here and it is inhumane for you to let the dog suffer! Blood in the urine is a bad sign. It could be kidney stones, tumor etc. How would you like to have yourself in the same shoes and be suffering and someone offer you some pedialyte! A lot of dogs have problem teeth due to diet, it is not an indication that he is old. Most of the puppies in stores are from puppy mills, not reputable breeders, so they are more unhealthy than other dogs. I've had money troubles too, once it was my phone or the dog, I chose the dog and she ended up being ok, but the vet gave her medicine and they turned off my phone! Tell your husband...see the vet!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, it sounds like he may be having kidney trouble. Not to sound mean, but when you saw the blood in his urine, he should have gone to an emergency vet then. A vet should be able to tell you within a 2 year error how old the dog is. And depending on the breed, what you kind of food you feed him, how much he chews, etc, his teeth could get REALLY bad within a year. Especially if he's a smaller breed. I would get him to a vet ASAP.

If his teeth and bladder are both having problems, it would appear that he has a systemic infection. This could have all originated with a tooth abcess.... this kind of infection is called septicemia, or often called in layman's terms, blood poisoning.
I have seen very old appearing rescued dogs become young and vibrant when chronic infections are cleared with antibiotics.
Only yuor vet can tell you which antibiotic is the right one to treat him.
Don't give up on him, there may still be a young vigorous dog in there.

If this was your kid would you wait for your husband's advice or permission or would you immediately go to seek medical help despite your financial woes? Do the right thing and either get on the phone to a vet and ask for professional advice or take the dog to the Vet today .

Take him to the vet. Most dogs that are sold come from puppy mills. After getting a new dog, cat or any large pet you must take them to the vet right away. It's the only way to know what you are dealing with. Alot of people buy sick animals and don't know. It's one struggle after an other and sometimes leads to death. So I urge you to take him to the vet.

Blood in the urine is NEVER a symptom of dying of old age. It sounds like your dog has a UTI or has stones. Take him to the vet immediatly. He is not dying because he is old....please dont let him die to save $50.

As a dog owner, I can tell you that your dog needs to go to the vet! There is definitely something wrong. Also, the vet will be able to give you a ballpark area of his true age. Anytime a dog doesn't eat or drink, the problem is urgent. Dogs can die really fast from dehydration. Please take him to a vet and please let me know how things turn out.

It would take a lot more serious scandals to make me prefer Romney. All presidents have had scandals, Reagan had Iran Contra which was a lot worse than these, but few Republican regretted voting for him. I would mention Bush´s but he is not a good example since many people did regret voting for him

I'm going to say take him to a vet. His problems sound like the result of inbreeding.
