I'm buying my home. I have lived here for about 6yrs. Over the yrs I have had 4 bikes stolen. I have no garage. The bikes are kept on the front porch. We live on a terrace. I have also had problems with some teenagers who are bullies. They walk on my 100yr old wall that surrounds the front and one side of my house. My car gets egged about twice a month. These bullies will put large rocks in the street for cars to run over. I called the police and they spoke to the one boy and had a sturn talk with him. I finally had enough. I bought 2 night vision cameras that are hooked up to two small tv's in my home. I also record every night. I also put a motion light on my porch. Some people think I have gone to far. This is my house and I shouldn't have to put up with all this. I just want them to leave me alone. I want them to stop vandalizing my properties. What do you think?

I think you were right to do what you did. No one should have to put up with stuff like that, no matter where they live. Especially if the Police are not properly handling it. At least, now you can get proof to show them and it isn't just your word against theirs.

Good luck on this..........

I sympathies with your situation. You are not going too far as these are all your properties. You definitely have the right to protect them. Those who think you're going too far because they never put themselves into your shoes, hence they don't understand why you are doing all these. Just do what you are supposed to do - you are not going to the extreme. It is those teenagers (bullies) that are going too far and extreme. They are definitely a disgrace to their parents who brought them up!!!

From Buddhism point of view, when you are receiving harm from others, it is the results that you'd created in the past (this life/past life) that you are getting harm from these people. However, I definitely sympathies with your situation. I don't know which country you are from, but you can try to log on to one of the Buddhist Centres' website, eg FPMT (The Foundation of the Preservation of Mahayana Teachings), www.fpmt.com, and look for any local centre in your area. You can approach the Resident teacher (monk/nun) in the centre and have some private consultation with them. Ask them what kind of pujas can be done to help you to overcome these problems and obstacles in your life now. The Spiritual Director of these FPMT Centres around the world is Kyabje Thubten Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

Hope you are well soon! Take care & good luck!

Take the footage directly to the media when you catch the kids in the act. That's what I would do, point out the fact that the police did not act when called out. If you put public pressure on the police department they will do their job and keep you safe.

No, you are doing what you need to do to protect your family and property. Make sure you record everything and use it as evidence against the bullies and maybe even the cops.

You know that it all depends on what state you live in on what you can legally do.

If you catch them in the act of vandalizing, you may have the power to do a civil arrest. Check with your local authorities.

You are right to do whatever you have to do to live in a safe home environment. If it had been my home, I would have done the same thing.

There is nothing wrong in you doing so.I'd say better have them arrested.Afterall it's your house and they haven't got a right to do such nasty things.
Good luck.
