I'd prefer digital. Right now I am working with a Canon Rebel.

Since you are doing kids, you want a camera with a quick responce. Something such as the Fuji S2 Pro or the Canon Digital Rebel.

Kids are constantly bouncing back and forth so catching them at the right moment is hard to do and it comes fast. You'll also need lights with a fast recycle time (I prefer Photogenic www.photogenicpro.com) to allow for constant, quick lighting.

If you already have a Canon Rebel, I'd strongly suggest staying in that line and going with the Digital Rebel as your lenses will already work with it and you already have a feel for the body and operations of the camera.

I'm not sure what the guy above me means. There is no difference between what film can produce and what digital can produce. Digital offers a faster responce time which is what you need with kids.

Digital is quicker and easier, but, film captures emotions better. Try an inexpensive Pentax 35 mm for a bit. You can 1 hour them and have them put on cd's at the same time.
