Can you do anything about prank phone calls? adult?

I keep on receiving ones that say "I want to sit my bare a** on your mouth and then take a sh*t on you" then the person laughs in this sick, witch life laugh :( very disturbing :(

contact your local police dept or sheriff's dept and ask to file a report for harassment. (get the offense Number in case the telephone company needs it)
Then call the telephone company and tell them you have filed a report with the police dept and would like for them to put a trap on your phone.
When they find out who it is they (the telephone co)will fax the information--call listings and phone number-- to the police not you and the police will prosecute.

also try leaving the phone off the hook

if it is dialed from a private number then it will prevent them from being able to redial until you hang up - and it wont cost you a dime either

this is effectively an obscene phone call which i am pretty certain that your country will have laws against

You can call your local phone company and they will tell you how to stop it. First I think you need caller id. If they keep it up try telling them that the call is being traced and see if that works. You could also have your number changed.
