if its packed in a can and on ice its good for 7 to 10 days but if it starts turning a bit dark get rid of it.regular crab meat on the shelf is packed with preservaitives so it life is 7 to 10 years

It is good until you open the can, In most cases between 2 and 5 years if it is on the shelf that long. After you open it, it should be used or eaten within 2 days

Until it starts swelling up or when the scent changes. When it changes its smell, you'll know, because it will swell up and have some flies landing on it. If it's fridged, once you experience a different taste and smell. You can always look up into the sky, if you spot those buzzards overhead, I'd suggest you dump the crab. If it hasn't been opened yet, check the expiration date. I wouldn't trust it past the date.
