THE REALATIONS BETWEEN INDIA AND PAKISTAN WERE VERY BAD FROM THE TIME OF INDEPENDENCE . BUT THERE ARE A FEW IMPROVEMENTS RECENTLY BUT THE INDIANS WATCH THEM WITH CAUTION JUST BECAUSE THEY DONT TRUST MUSHARUFF . THE FOLLOWING ARE MY VIEWS REGARDING INDIA - PAK RELATIONS .

1. UNLESS UNTIL PAK STOPS GIVING SUPPORT TO TERRORISTS ORGANISATIONS AND ENDS THE DECADES OLD PROXY WAR THERE CANNOT BE ANY PEACE IN THE REGION.

2. NOW THAT KASMIR IS DIVIDED INTO TWO AS INDIAN CONTROLLED KASHMIR AND PAK CONTROLLED KASHMIR(POK) BOTH OF THEM CAN AGREE THAT THE CURRENT LOC OR LINE OF CONTROL BE ACCEPTED AS THE INTERNATIONAL BORDER AND FORGET THE PAST.

3. INDIA DOES NOT FAVOR A WAR .ITS PAKISTAN THAT KEEPS DISTURBING THE RELATIONS EVERY TIME .FOR EXAMPLE THE KARGIL WAR -- WHEN INDIAN PM WAS ON A GOOD WILL VISIT TO ISLAMABAD THE PAK ARMY SOLDIERS DRESSED UP AS TERRORISTS WERE CROSSING THE BORDER INTO INDIA .THUS THE NEXT THING IS TRUST . INORDER TO BRING UP A MUTUAL TRUST BETWEEN THE TWO NATIONS PAK HAS TO CHANGE ITS ANTI-INDIA POLICY .

4. ALL OTHER MINOR PROBLEMS LIKE WATER AND RIVER DISPUTES CAN BE EASILY SOLVED ONCE THERE IS A TRUST BETWEEN THE TWO NATIONS .

5. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT LAST TIME WHEN PAK TERRORISTS ATTACKED INDIA'S PARLIMENT THERE WAS NO REACTION JUST BECAUSE THE WORLD NATIONS ALMOST PLEADED INDIA TO STAY CALM .BUT NEXT TIME IF PAK AGAIN TRIES IT THEY MAY BE WIPED OFF THE GLOBE BY INDIA .AGAIN PAK IS THE CREATORS OF THE PROBLEMS .

SO IN MY OPINION IF PAK CAN STOP ALL FORMS OF TERRORISM ANS BUILD THE CONFIDENCE OF INDIA THEN THERE WOULD BE EVER LASTING PEACE IN THE VALLEY.

Oh it seems like yall are progessing. It takes a long time to heal old wounds. Be patient & think about the next enemy. Why don't you ask India to send some troops to help fight the war on terror as allies with Pakistan against the guys that set bombs off in the Indian Parliment. It really kind of is a common enemy you know & the alternative to Musharrif is pretty bad. Maybe you could quit playing so nice with China while it is gearing up to start WWIII against the civilized world. There's a lot to focus on besides Pakistan.

Both were part of one nation before the Brits tore the country apart by partitioning India and Pakistan along perceived religious lines. Everytime the Brit colonists tried to play God when they leave their ex-colonies, they leave a messy socio-politico landscape. Well at least they did not leave their subjects bankrupt, raped and pillaged like the Dutch, Portugese back before WWII.

people of India and Pakistan want cordial relation ship but the rulers in both countries do not try sincerely any attempts to make to bring peace. as they are to face the wrath of the fundamentalists in their countries and another reason is in order to divert the attention of their people from their day to day problems, they always rake up the feelings of enmity between the people of two countries. other wise what is the need of declaring a cricket match between the countries as a war instead of a game

That really is a sad state of affairs. I think Musharrif has done well to side by the Americans but it takes more than one man to change a country.
