95 lbs for that age isn't all that terrible. He will probably shoot up several inches in the next few years. DO NOT talk to your child about weight. He certainly doesn't need that burdon. If you are concerned see a doctor or a dietician and ask what you should do. Have healthy snacks available, limit portions and only allow "treats" on special occasions. Also get out and do some physicial activity on a daily basis with him.

i have a body mass index and it only goes down to 4 ft 6, but if he were 4ft 6 and 100 lbs he would still be in the high end of the healthy range. at 4 ft 6 and about 105 lbs he would be considered a little over weight. if hes just eating alot of fairly healthy foods and not pigging out on junk i wouldnt worry. I'll bet he will shoot up soon. my boys tend to fill out then grow taller and slim down evertime they hit a growth spurt. Actually your husband is just as close to being over weight as your son is. He will probably be built just like dad.

boys do that .. growing up my little brother was short and "husky" and he was always a chunk a butt.. but he will be 20 in Sept he is 5'8" and he has shaped out fine he isn't over weight and he is pretty built (i wouldn't fight him anymore) He tried playing sports but always had a hard time because of his weight he didn't thin out until high school. 4'5" 95 lbs isn't bad at 8
at 10 my brother was about 110 lbs and not even 5'
everyone is different .. he'll sprout when he hits puberty

Focus on healty eating. Don't aim at him losing weight. Try to get him to maintain this weight while he grows rather than losing it. Hopefully just through healthy eating he will lose some but remember you are the one who buys the food not him. Don't buy junk and buy lots of fresh fruit and vegies. Get him into a few after school sports, maybe swimming basketball footy.
Activity and heathy eating = healthy child

First of all you SHOULD talk to him about his weight. You should ALSO regulate his diet IMMEDIATELY. Get him involved in a summer sport as well so that he's physically active. TAKE HIM TO THE DOCTOR NOW. Don't be nice about it either. You are NOT helping him any.
