I'm trying to grow out my hair. I also want to get it healthy. I've been trying to get a hair cut every 6 weeks. But sometimes I forget. What is good and bad for my hair. I shampoo and Condition my hair almost everyday. I also use a deep conditioner everyday. I use a hot iron on my hair about ever other day. I live in Okinawa Japan (Air Force Bases), so its very hot!!! My hair gets frizzy. If I don't Blow Dry it then its just a mess. What can I do or use to make it healthy and still look good. Can you guys recommend anything not to expensive?

Well, for one you should make an effort to trim your hair regularly, because the funny thing is the more you cut it the more it grows. The flat iron is probably not a great idea if you have unhealthy hair. Also, try to buy product that contains NO alcohol.

Along with Shampoo and Conditioning, get a good leave in conditioner. I found one by John Frieda, it also helps with frizz.
I live in Louisiana, so I know what you mean by frizz, believe me.
But with the "double conditioner" I can pretty much control it with out blow drying. If you must blow dry, get a blow dryer that has an ionizer, And try to wait until it has dryed part way. Instead of flat iron just try curling iron set low to smooth the ends.

Good Luck

Blowdrying and flatironing your hair=very bad. Try washing only the roots of your hair if you must do so on a daily basis due to an oily scalp, and let the rinse water carry the shampoo through the rest of your hair. Use a deep conditioner (something really, really heavy) once a week. I'm sorry, but a really good conditioner is going to cost you some money, but it's worth it. You can use cheap shampoo if you like, but don't skimp on the conditioner. You could also try treating your hair with a mask of mayonnaise and olive oil once a week, wrap in a warm towel for 20 minutes, then shampoo and condition normally. John Frieda makes lots of good products for frizzy hair. Consider using a leave-in conditioner and stop fighting your hair so much!

You should only flat-iron twice a week, max. Get a really good iron and you won't have to do it everyday. Try the Corioliss iron ($150), it doesn't damage your hair so much and you use it less frequently. It has a tourmaline coated plate-GET THE PINK ONE! lol

It sounds like you're doing everything you can by deep conditioning it & getting it trimmed. What exactly is wrong with it? Are you just worried that you will eventually damage it with the hot irons/blow drying?

I don't have any home remedies, but on thing that I have tried are those really big rollers, like almost the size of a can. I LOVE how my hair looks blowdried, has more volume. What I've noticed is that these rollers have the same volume effect and are much healthier because you don't have to blowdry. You could also blowdry on a low/med. heat or try to use the cool setting to avoid heat.

Also, what shampoo/conditioners are you using? Try to opt for Pantene or higher end if you can afford it.

You dont have to condition everyday! If your forgetting your cuts make them ahead of time and mark it on your calender.Try frizz-ease by John Freida it works great for frizzy hair,Instead of cond everyday try using a leave in conditioner.Thermasilk products are made especially for heat styled hair, just get the right level you need.Pantene also has come out with a new line of products just for heat that can make your hair a mess.GOOD LUCK!

AG varnish is the best. It makes your hair smooth, soft and not frizzy. Any varnish probably does the same thing, just make sure you get it at a salon. Put a little dab on your hand and rub your hands together, then work it through your hair when it is almost dry (damp) and then brush it through. It works really well. God Bless

Sabestian, get it at wal-mart, smart style salon, inside wal-mart. switch washing daily to every three days, even if you hate it. all Sabestian products will WOW you. cost, round twenty dollars. stuff last and last, all of it. when shampooing, use only one half ounce, mixed w/ one half ounce of water. shake well and skip the ironing. drink plenty of water, daily. also, take an oil pill, omega-3 or cherry cod liver oil made by Twin labs, bout 1 T. three times a week. cost round eight or nine dollars, the best results, if you stay outta the sun. baby, baby your face and hair. it will shine like never before.

yes, go the store and in the shampoo isle there should be what's called "horse shampoo". Use it and your hair will grow full and quickly. No lie, it's the truth. it usually comes in a big plastic bottle.
