Are you talking about Catholics and the new pope or all Christians?
I think its probably cuz people are ignorant. And I personally am starting to get very annoyed with peoples stupid and ignorant comments.

I've tried to understand Christianity, I know the Bible, I was raised Christian, I even thought I was one, but then I realized that its just one way of being and it wasn't for me. I think Christianity has a lot to offer, but they hurt themselves by acting like they are better then others and telling people they are going to Hell. I don't believe that is what the real Jesus was like and believe even less that he would approve of how a lot of Christians are acting today. There are too many people claiming to be Christian out there that don't even know their Bible, but that's what happens when you convert people using fear instead of knowledge. All you get are a bunch of mindless robotic followers and how does that help God. If you're wondering why there's so much intolerance towards you, look in the mirror, it’s harsh, but true.

Aw boo hoo. Yes you poor Christians are so oppressed.
Get real you idiot, your God is mentioned on every bank note in the nation. God is in the pledge of allegiance. There are thousands of Christian churches all over the nation.
When was the last time you heard of someone getting fired for being Christian, or refused entry to a business because they were Christian?
Just because they won't teach Christianity in schools or Intelligent Design as science does not mean your particular brand of religion is under siege.
Let's be realistic, the Christian right has a massive voice in this country. So let's not try to pretend that Christians are some sad little fringe group who are always discriminated against.

Maybe it's because I am not a Christian. Maybe it's because I live in a country (Argentina) which is under the despotic control of the Catholic Church, but although I do see sometimes intolerance for Christianity, I get to see much more often a lot of intolerance "BY" Christianity. Especially when they don't have their way with things, and they accuse the rest of not respecting them.
BTW, I don't think you're to blame for any of this. So I wouldn't be afraid to tell you this in your face. But I don't really think I'm insulting you. That isn't my intention anyway.

Because the teachings of the bible have a god that has killed millions. In the bible, how could anyone overlook the fact that god killed innocent cute babies. Yet he did. He got upset over the babies parents and killed the first born children. Regardless of the fact that all children are innocent. So how are these god fearing people supposed to follow a murderers words? Intolerance and religion will be the demise of the human race.

Christianity is intolerant of sin. It is not intolerant of people.
We will all sin and when people call everyone a hypocrit, they just don't understand that we admit we sin, we just have a Saviour that can forgive us and help us try again.
I find it disgusting that it's politically correct to put down Christians as a group, but it's politically incorrect for Christians to criticize any particular sin.
The people that are intolerant of Christians, are tolerant of everything else, it seems.

Probably because Christians are guilty of incredible acts of intolerance today and throughout history. Christians have endorsed slavery, sexism and racism at various times and in some cases today.
Do most Christians show tolerance for gays and lesbians? No. Do most Christians show tolerance for other faiths. No. Do most Christians show tolerance for free expression in the arts. No. Do most Christians show tolerance for anything other than creation theory of earth and human development? No.
These are just some of the most obvious examples. So, you want tolerance. Try showing a little.

You do realize that by asking this question you just invited more of those answers that you so despise? As for me, I think Christianity is just one way that people can choose to teach themselves and their children about morals and values and things of that ilk. I don't hold anything against anyone just because of their religion. It's when people use their religion as an excuse for their behavior that I feel sad. If you tell me you're Christian, I will say "OK." If you tell me that you're going to start harming others because they are NOT Christian, I will say "Not OK." It all has to do with how you act towards others.

Very simple, and it is the reason I do not attend church. Christians like to Judge way before they decide to get to know that individual. I quit going to church because I was judge by how I looked. I have tattoos, piercings, spiked hair, and a goatee.
I grew up in a christian home but when I could make my own decission I bailed on all religion and decided to just trust in God.
People do not appreciated having religion shoved down their throats all the time. You can not prove the exsistance of god to those who do not want to believe.
Christians often look at the outsides of a person instead of the insides like God does. You see I do not care what others, especialy christians, think of me. God knows my heart thats all that matters.

well, this is an easy question. because there's not. the president claims to be christian. dont be a victim i say. i certainly thought i was opressed when i was a christian, but the bible already gives you the necessity that you WILL be opressed, so you are opressed. that should be enough for you. but nonchristians speak out about christianity because it's a completely falacious worldview, and unproductive. the values of christian life are found easily found in a rational worldview. but taht's my opinion. but just dont think you're a victim. i wouldnt even waste my time on that question if i were still a christian.

Well some people think is it just wrong, untrue or a crutch.
Others think it is putting down their right to sin.
Others think that other easier to live with reiligions that suit their lifestyle are the best and so they put down anyone who tries to live by the Bible's standards because it makes them feel more validated for their sins.
