Earmites are tiny creatures that live and feed in cat's ears. Under a microscope, they look like hairy, fat insects. They cause a blackish build up of gunk, and irritate the cat's ears. If untreated, the cat could damage his ears so badly from scratching and shaking that they will appear to be crumpled up and hardened. If you don't know how to treat them, it is best to seek help from a vet. The ears can be easily damaged. Hope this helps!

Literally---they are blood-sucking parasites. It will look like the cat's ears are full of dark brownish, gritty type stuff. If your cat has them, you need to take the cat to the vet for treatment asap. They can cause serious problems if left untreated. Also, if you have more than one cat, you will need to take them ALL in for treatment, as the earmites will infest any animals that are in contact with each other.
WARNING: DO NOT get earmite drops from a pet store and try to treat the cat yourself! If the eardrum is ruptured, or if there are any other sores, etc. in the cat's ear, then the eardrops can cause permanent deafness, or even KILL your cat!!! Also, DO NOT attempt to clean your cat's ear with a Q-tip, nor allow your vet to do so. This can rupture the cat's eardrum, and it only pushes the earmites farther down into the ear anyway. NEVER put anything small into your pet's ears!

Earmites are parasites that are contagious to other cats and dogs. If you take the animal to the vet there is a treatment available now that is only one dose and works very well, much better than the drops sold in pet shops. It is really important to erradicate them as soon as possible because the mites damage the ear canals and can cause other ear problems if not treated. It is relatively easy to determine if the cat has them. The ears will have a dark crusty red residue. The mites cause the cat to scratch continually.

they are parasites that drive your kitty insane and make them scratch their ears until they bleed. Any pet store should have earmite drops for kitty. A couple of drops in your favorite puss will kill em dead and make puss a playful kitty again

They're those little tiny bugs that look something like fleas around a cat's ears and eats the hair off in that area.
