A cat with good hunting instints is best at catching rodents and to the stupid person who wrote about the rats, cats do not eat rats. Cats do not eat moles or shrews either. To the other person who said the male unneeded genetalia needs to be there, Wrong! My best mouser for 16 years was neutered. The other people who said mutt cat from the ASPCA and barn cat were also correct. Those kind of cats, like mine was enjoy hunting and bringing the presents to us. I used to hate waking up in the morning to a head and tail (but no middle) on the kitchen floor when we lived overseas. Our cat was such a good hunter that the neighbors in the apartment complex borrowed him.

Cats are in contrast to dogs. The breeding of cats for particular characteristics that brings to upward push particular "breeds" has basically been occurring for the final hundred years or so, while this custom for dogs has been occurring lots longer. As such, the "branch of hard artwork" for cats won't be considered interior a similar way because it particularly is for dogs. dogs are bred for particular initiatives. No lots with cats. no longer yet besides. no longer basically that, yet cats that are organic bred are very high priced! Why might you want to spend an exorbitant volume of funds on a cat that would or won't rid you of a mouse situation? inspite of the main suitable mousers, there are no ensures. FWIW, maximum barn cats that I particularly have considered are American/spouse and toddlers Shorthairs or some comparable mixed breed (which basically take place to be the main uncomplicated breeds in usa). That being reported, you additionally could make a extra perfect determination approximately how solid of a mouser a cat is going to be by ability of looking no longer at its breed, yet at whether or no longer the cat is feral/semi-feral or domesticated. Cats that are born to feral mothers or semi-feral mothers are possibly to be extra perfect hunters with the aid of fact they are taught to be. Cats that are born domesticated (i.e., interior the convenience of somebody's domicile) have not have been given any reason to seek, and consequently commonly do no longer strengthen the skillset to accomplish that.

All american barn cat.
Seriously. Get you a mutt cat. If you get a recovered stray at the Humane Society you'll probably do the best, because strays moused for a living for awhile, so they're more likely to keep doing it to stay in practice.

A mutt. My cat is neutered and is grey and white. He will hunt all day long and catches them and walks proud for a couple of days. It's the weirdest thing how they act.

Just get some mouse traps. You never know what diseases rats have, and you wouldn't want your cat to get them, now would you?

Please, a word of warning...My beloved Tabby died, possibly from the rat poisons injested by mice/rats. If you love cats, don't let them do this.
