New landlord won't accept pets over 25 lbs. He has all shots, license, is well-trained, and well-behaved. Black, except for chest freckles of white-part lab, part dalmation?? Very lean about 3 feet high. You will not be sorry-gets along with cats. Moving within 2 weeks, got screwed by a realtor who said all pets were ok. Please help. I will really miss him.

You might want to post an add on petfinder.com. I have a friend that has already adopted two dogs through that site. It's worth a try. Have you verified with your veterinarian? My vet actually had an adoption service. If you search for a "no kill" shelter in your area, you will find help. Another thing. Have you verified your lease? Does it specifically state that you are not allowed to have a dog? You might want to verify what you have in writing. If the landlord has suddenly changed the rules on you, it may be within your rights to keep the dog. I know what you are going through, by the way. I had to give up my dog a year ago because I was moving out of the country. Good luck.

I think you should sit down with your landlord and ask if you could work out some type of arrangement. I did this when I lived in an apartment complex years ago. I also had a landlord say no dogs over 25lbs. Because the type of dog I owned did not look 40 lbs, he let it slide. I did however have to pay an additional pet fee. Maybe he will do something like this. (If you did not try this yet). I still have the same dog by the way. He is 11 years old now. Good luck. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

If your dog is newly adopted and you got him from a reputable animal shelter or rescue.....chances are....you're under contract to return the dog to the same facility where you adopted him if the arrangement does not work out. They will find him another good home. Hopefully....for the dogs sake....next time they will do a much more thorough check to make sure the dog is aloud to reside at a new potential owners property. Nothing against you....but it sounds like the adoption facility did not do their job correctly.....or they just didn't care enough.

if it were me,,, I would back out of moving and find a place for pets. If the Realtor misrepresented the rules, you have the right to back out of a lease, unless you knew when you signed the lease.

If you just adopted the dog, the shelter or rescue will take him back, I guarantee it. Most reputable breeders will too, though I know this doesn't apply to your situation.
