You are "lucky", you get to make a completely new first impression, where you can be considerate, kind, and completely yourself. You have an opportunity to choose exactly who you want to be friends with. I suggest that you find opportunities to make friends by chatting with classmates first about material in an upcoming class, and about being new, and where you came from. Do not approach and waste your time with people who are
judgemental, unempathatic, trendy and unreliable. You can have lunch with a group of intriguing people. Go for people that you can be yourself with. You can try different activities and clubs for meeting people. I went through this "being new" twice recently, believe it or not. Just put yourself out there, and keep trying, and you will find some like-minded people. You have luck, so I am not going to wish your already there good luck upon you!

ive changed schools like 5 times when i was young and always had to make new friends.. its nothing to worry about, whoever wants to be your friend will come up and talk to you or if you find some ppl with the same interests as you just go up to them and introduce yourself and start conversation with them.

My oldest daughter is going through the same thing. Be yourself and don't hang with folks that do bad stuff. If you've gotta drink it, inject it or inhale it, you don't want it. Good luck.
