You are overlooking something important in your example of Mount Rushmore. We know what a mountain formed by erosion looks like and we can compare it to the Mt. Rushmore "faces", where there have been purposeful strikes and chisel marks.
We also have documentation from a variety of sources (not just one) that shows the faces on Mt. Rushmore being created.
So, in answer to your question, I am an atheist and skeptical that the faces on Mount Rushmore could have happened because of erosion.

I'm not an atheist, but I know that Mount Rushmore was built by people. I don't believe anyone thinks we happened by "accident."

mount rushmore was made by man,
ive reasoned this past week that since the big bang as they say is the start of matter in this universe, that its started by a singularity, that this even could have occured somewhere else in time and space, and thus this universe isn't unique, and thus for me there is no god,
but keep on keeping on
your one of the good ones, and not one of the king james is truth and gays are abomination ones

Religious groups are like Cults, you people don't think for yourselves, you believe what you are told and can't look out of the box! Why is it that you all are right and everyone else is wrong? Religion is the leading cause of War in the world, does it really have to be that way. Hell NO! I feel sorry for you trying to sell religion to people, i do not preach unless preached upon, you should relax and let your "god" do what he has to do to non-believers. Stop trying to spread your hate and this world can be a better place!

grow up please .the whole world knows by now that an Anunaki ,who was called the creator ,bred a whole race of humans to mine gold for them ,
the symbolic story of Adam was their invented religion to control these people and to give their existence meaning.
And He was no God ,only an extraterrestrial,so in reality you are the true Atheist. as well as a traitor,
who has betrayed the real Gods of this planet,
by turning your back on Baal (Sun)whose powers give life to all the creations that stem from Gaia (the Earth )Mother of everything,
these are real gods that can be seen very day and your home is the other ,
instead of an imaginary ,misinterpreted ,long gone, usurper , like Jehovah.
beware the pagan dawn traitor, and worshiper of false gods your hell will be mild by comparison.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA, not funny. I'm guessing your not an atheist. Neither am I. But you don't have to be rude to those that don't agree with you. You're not god, so don't try to force your opinion on other people, because you can't be 100% sure that what you believe is right. Besides, most athiests I know don't believe that we happened by "accident". The ones I know think scientifically. It's not like all athiests are complete idiots. Many scientists are atheists, and I'm sure they could beat you in an IQ test.
May god bless you. =)

lol, we do not believe, we just do not know how do we become to be.
We are not so obsess like believers does need an explanation for everything, lol. Our ancestors BELIEVE that the sun was the god who create them. believers are almost the same as they were, the difference is that as a convenient thing and invisible god can not be study, lol

Just because some things have not been accounted for yet, does not mean that you can put them down to god. I mean, we don't know how some things happen, so we cannot stop searching, and decide it was god. Let's wait and see.

lol, in the same way you believe that everything was created by God, and everything happens because it is his will, therefore he wants us to wipe ourselves out in the most tortuous and horrible of endings like nuclear holocaust and chemical warfare.
