When you go to turn on the water, make sure the clean towel is handy.
Wash your hands long enough to sing the "happy birthday" song, with soap.
Once you have rinsed, grab the paper towel(s) and turn off the faucet with the paper towel between your hand and the faucet. Toss that towel in the trash and use additional paper towels to dry your hands.
Take an extra paper towel to open the door, if you feel you must.
Voila!

You're right. That's why many people use the paper towel to turn off the faucet and open the door, then throw away the towel on the way out.

first take 3 paper towels. put 2 on you somewhere, the other use it to turn on the faucet, then throw 1st towel in garbage, use the soap, wash hands, rinse hands, take 2nd towel to dry off hands and turn water off. take a 3rd towel to open the door now you are on your way. easy process is to take those hand cleaning tissues with you. everywhere you go.

good one! Unless you're using a faucet that automatically comes on and off just by putting your hands under it, which most stores are starting to use, and then opening the door with the paper towel.

I personally close the faucet with a paper towel, so therefore I don't get them dirty again.

Good question. Working in the healthcare field for so long, I have gotten so used to washing and drying my hands constantly. I carry alcohol gel in my pocket and I always try to use the papertowel to turn off the water and open up the door. But you still get germs on your hands. So I guess we might all need to start carying rubber gloves in our pockets from now on. LOL
