I think you are right.. and even in the most strict form and most spiritual religious practices, people always find a way to try to make religion to justify themselves and their actions even if it is not acceptable in God's eyes..... narrow is the door that leads to God and few are the one who find it and the opposite is true. After all it is not about the rules and regulations but it's about the true love we have for God.. However we have to learn the alphabet before starting writing in Journals meaning there is usually a truggle between our ego and wants and between what God's ways. If we struggle enough we become more experienced in living with God...

I feel that some branches of religion do doctor the basic religion. For instance, all of the rules! Many religious rules were not around in the time when these religions were being created. For instance, a Catholic cannot eat meat on Friday. Where did that come from? However, this only suits the churches bizarre desires. As for individuals, it takes a strong believer to stick with the religion and not make the religion stick with it. I think that because the basic principals of these religions have remained the same over the years, that we are not making religion fit our wants so much. It all boils down to what you believe about the circumstances of the religion's creation.

Many try to make religion fit their needs and wants rather than following the God wants.

In the end, God wins regardless.

some do ...This is the reason why it is more religion than following the word of God. The bible says what religon is in....

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Many of the people in the days of Christ came up following the Law thinking that the law was going to justify them...when we find like Paul said that the law was given so that men would know what sin is...without the law sin does not exist ..but when the law comes to mind...sin becomes alive in us... Romans 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. But the people who followed the law did so to make themselves right.

Now we know it is not the law that saves us ..but grace...

Men who rather then to follow the deeds of the law ..who believe..that the law makes them right..are religious...

Remember what James says..because that is pure religion..undefiled...Follow the way Of Christ and the word and He will lead you to eternal life...God bless

Check your premise: God may not want religions at all. Every religion so far has had the sole purpose of manipulating people. 2000 years (and more) of marketing experience goes a long way to brainwash children.

I dont know about other relegions.. But Hinduism is one which is designed for every human being to lead a systematic life. Eventhough it was designed thousands of years ago, it is the one relegion I believe that gives correct reasons in mythology as well as science

I think religions are there are paths to help us find Truth. I don't think you need religion necessarily to find it. Everybody has a choice. Whatever your heart tells you then go for it.

Give this man a gold star. I believe you hit the nail precisely on the head. It is not that G*D does not exist, but man's image of G*D reflects man's needs.
