Mark of the Beast 666?

Question

Who can give me a mature thought to what this is. (It not any movie or the real number's 666) I am sure, but still would like to have some other thoughts.

The verse from the Bible that refers to 666 is "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six." (Rev 13:18).

It is in reference to the first beast in Revelation 13. In the Bible, a beast represents a nation, kingdom or empire. But since this verse says that it "is the number of a man", it it talking about the leader of that nation.

The best way to truly identify the nation and its leader is to study the characteristics of that first beast and history. This beast is also the same as the "little horn" mentioned in Daniel chapter 7. (Daniel and Revelation are very closely related and will help you to gain a better understanding if studied together.)

The early protestant reformers believed that the beast represents the Vatican (which is a nation) and the leader is the Pope.

An interesting note is that the official title of the Pope is "Vicarius Filii Dei" (Vicar of the Son of God). When his title is converted into roman numerals and the numerical values are added, the total comes to 666. This happens also when the Pope's official title is converted into the other languages that assign numerical values for the characters of the alphabet; Greek and Hebrew are the other languages that do this, and in each one, the total is 666.

Is this a mere coincidence or were the early protestant reformers right? (Another note; they were called "Protestants because they were protesting against the cruelties, corruptions and abuses of the Roman Catholic Church.)

Another point about this mark, is that it most likely will not be a visible mark on the skin, even though the Bible mentions that it wwill be on the hand or on the forehead. The mark is received as a matter of worship. (See Revelation 13:15 and Revelation 14:9, 10.)

We can see the political swing toward more conservative views, and there are some that believe that this swing will lead to a law in which the people of this country and the world will beforced to go to church, and if you don't then you will be prohibited from conducting business and will eventually be killed. (The Bible has an example of this in Daniel chapter 2.)

The best advise that I can give is to study the Bible carefully. There are many people, even ministers, who will try to tell you what it means, but the explanations often go against the simple words of the Bible; don't believe these people.

Well, what I read in Revelations sort of confused me, but what I got out of it was that it said the "number of the beast shall be.." not that it was his "mark".

So I'd just have to ask, in what context would that number be? I mean, when you ask for someone's number, right now it generally means phone number, but that's not enough numbers lol. Neither is it a good social security number.

So I'm just sort of waiting to see when the phrase "his number is..." applied to something that indicates identity.

But I've always thought the mark of the beast will be the social security number (the one we'll get stamped on our foreheads if we want to live). Sounds right, it's the number we all identify with as being our own personal number.

It is the Mark of the Best, aka, Antichrist. For people to buy, sell, trade, or anything, it will be required for them to recieve this mark to do so, in their hands or foreheads. Its an end times thing, and some believe it may be 616, instead of 666.

First of all, the quantity will have to be 616. (the oldest identified reproduction of revelations says the quantity is 616 no longer 666) And no I would not get the quantity on me. I do not play good with others

According to a History Channel program, this is an example of letters also serving as numbers. This is true in Hebrew (gematriah), and, in this case, in Greek. The numbers spell out the name "NERO CAESAR". If this is true, the writer at Patmos intended to say that Nero, who was persecuting Christians in gruesome ways, was the Antichrist.
