you may not want to pay for it, but you probably should. think about how you'd feel if you lent someone a book of yours, they got it all wet, and then returned it to you in the same condition? The point is, when someone lends something, it is expected that the item be returned in the condition that it was received. Maybe it's not a big deal to the lender. Have the courtesy to call and explain, and if they ask you to replace the book, replace it. It may cost money, but save a relationship, whether with your local library or a good friend.

Depends what the person who lent it to you wants. If they're upset that you wrinkled it, you're probably obligated to buy them a new copy. If they don't care... no harm done.
About 10 years ago my dad dropped a manuscript of a book one of his friends was writing in the bathtub. The book eventually got published and did pretty well. But my dad is still to this day getting s**t about it (good natured) from the author.

I think you should tell the person and offer to replace the book. Chances are they will say it's not necessary, but if they do want a replacement it's the right thing to do.
