Talk to him. :)

Start casual, you know, like, "Hey, I'm glad to see that your back. Wanna go out for lunch or something later and fill me in on what you've been doing?"

You can even invite him to some of our old haunts to reminisce about the good old days, or to see what's changed since he's been gone.

Both of these are good for finding out what his interests are which will help you decide if he's still the right person for you. If so, you now know more about him and you can guage his reaction to your pseudo date.

Hope that this helps.

Step 1: Walk up to boy.
Step 2: Open mouth.
Step 3: Insert words such as Hi "May I ask something of you......

This is not rocket science. It isn;t hard to tell someone you like them. It is the only way they will ever know. Having a freind do it is cowardly.

Just ask. Whats the worse that can happen.

My suggestion, leave it as friends. You're only going to get hurt in the long run. Find someone local to you that you can spend time with and get to know. How crazy do you think its going to make you if you do go out with him and its time for him to leave. Do the math, why would you want to put yourself through the pain.

See if you can talk to him on a casual level, like a phone call. Tell him you want to get together to catch up, again, something casual.

You can always move on to something more substantial if you find there is still something there.

When you see him ,welcome him home and chat casually. He has been away over two years. His feelings might have changed or he could even have a girlfriend. He will no doubt be happy to see you again. It doesn't mean he is ready to take up where he left off. So play it by ear.

I would ask him if he wanted to go to the pizza place or something as almost a date, this way you can tell if he likes you or not- but dont ask him in such a way that he thinks you like him or something.
