I'm testing an oboe to see how well it plays. What is the best way to check for damages, or anything else that could be wrong with it that I could send it in to be repaired for? Help please!

The band teacher told me to check it for problems.

Just check if the wiring is good and if its there's any dents and scratches. But make sure the wiring is good, its really easy to buy a bad wired oboe. You could also test it out by playing a b-flat then the octave (high b-flat), if it sounds good and normal and not off pitch, than its a good oboe. Good luck.
