I want to dye my hair bright red (like a stop sign) for my graduation ceremony, and the end of senior year. I don't want to use spray in dye!! Unfortunately, I don't want to keep it very long because I'm going to be in Europe this summer and I don't want to attract unwanted attention. So... WILL I MURDER MY HAIR IF I DYE IT BACK TO NATURAL COLOR AFTER JUST A COUPLE OF WEEKS? sorry to use caps. just didn't want everyone to have to read so much.

Ok, so you want to do your hair bright red? Looking at your hair on your avatar shows me that your hair color is brown. In order to achieve stop sign color red, you will first have to get your hair blonde. If you have virgin hair (hair that has NEVER been colored) then you can purchase a blonde hair dye to get it blonde. However, if your hair is dyed brown, then you will need to bleach your hair. Depending on how blonde you are going,(platinum for example), bleaching can damage your hair. I would recommend that you DON'T go platinum blonde. This will cause breakage! You can then purchase red hair dye in certain brands such as Punky Colour and Special Effects. You can use manic panic too but that brand is watered down and isn't as vibrant as the other two brands. You can get these dyes at Hot Topic. Even though these dyes are semi-permanent, they will more than likely stain your hair. Depending on what colors you use, they will fade out ugly or pretty. Reds usually fade out pretty. These semi permanent dyes usually condition your hair after the bleach. I would let your hair rest at least 2 weeks before dying your hair back to its original color. Take care of your hair if you decide to bleach. Try to deep condition and use hot oil treatments. Try not to use too many heating products such as blow dryers and curling irons. Hope this helps and good luck!

Use Manic Panic brand. it's made mostly of vegetables and it'll actually wash out on its own in a few weeks unless you bleach your hair first, in which case it'll fade and you can use a toner or gentle dye to get back to your normal color. Just don't use any light-colored towels to dry your hair for about a week after you use it because the dye will "bleed" out of your hair and wreck your towels!

Dying your hair is not too harsh. Lightening your hair is where you really damage it. Invest in some good shampoo and conditioner--- Nexxus, Biolage, Graham Webb, etc. Not the stuff you get at CVS but really top-notch products from a salon. Makes a huge difference!

my friend uses kool aid. u can use which ever color u want. make sure u do it the day u want to take the picture. do not add the sugar because u will attract bugs. it comes right out. if u do not have blonde hair u could always dye it blonde because it is easy to add which ever color u like to it. considering kool aid comes in many colors ur best bet is to put the kool aid in every day and wash it out b 4 sleep. it is the safest method i know of. good luck

Bleach some streaks and keep them blonde or possibly dye them red or auburn in the front. Experiment with haircuts to change things up too.

Get Color Pulse by Loreal found at Wal mart in the hairdye section. Try copper blast, red pulse, red copper spritz, iced coffee(gives a hint of red, lively auburn(I have that in my hair now its a dark Brown/dark red color)funky cherry or chilled plum(purple), electric black. They wash out in 8-10 shampoos but it takes longer on me. It works & takes about 45min and smells great too.
