They never gave a single thought to such a contrived number cluelessly "derived" from the 6th day of the 6th month of the 6th year of the 20th century. They were wise old codgers who had more pressing concerns like would they get the back 40 harvested so Ma would have the money to buy that nifty rapture dress she saw in the Sears& Roebuck catalog. They knew numerology was just another one of that clever devil's tricks, and Pa just said "now, devil, begone, go on now and mess with some of those idiots who think there's something in dumb old number sequences." That old devil was no fool either, and he went on down the road to where some fundamentalists were holding a 06-06-06 revival and got himself a whole bunch of yahoos. Later, on his way back to Hell, that old devil stopped off long enough to thank Pa. Pa was a smart feller, and Ma was no one's fool either. We buried Pa in '90, but Ma lived on to see the 21st century and the whole millennium thing. Ma said, shucks, it's just another day on the calendar, but Ma reckoned just like before there would be plenty of fools carrying on and making quite a ruckus about it all. And, like I said, Ma is no one's fool, and she was right about all those fools that time like all the times before, so she saw the devil out walking one day, and Ma said to him, "hey there, Mr. Devil, you know, I bet you can go on down the road and find all kinds of fools going crazy over this millennium thing." And, that devil, he knew Ma was a smart cookie, and Pa had steered him right before, so that old devil went on down the road, and sure enough he found so many fools all raising a ruckus about the millennium and the end of the world and all, well that old devil stayed so busy for so long that Ma was dead and in Heaven three whole days before that devil ever heard she had died. Yes sir, Ma was smart and didn't pay no never mind to such foolishness. Now, if you'll pardon me, I see old Mr. Devil coming down the road and I want to go whisper in his ear and tell him about all these 06-06-06 fools. My, but I reckon Pa and Ma are having a right good chuckle up there watching how all these fools still carry on. Won't be long before I'll be joining Ma and Pa, so I reckon I'll mosey on now and see if I can send that devil on down the road a ways.

Things were a lot different back then than than they are now.Not many had even heard of it.Very few churches ever said anything about Armegeddon. People went to church to hear a sermon on whatever the minister wanted to talk about. Doubtless that the church goers even took a Bible to church to look up scriptures if scriptures were even mentioned. The world is a lot smaller now...you hear of more wars, pestilence{ like aids, bird flu.all these different things being carried from country to country by air travel} People are seeing all thats going on now, along with movies like Armegeddon, and day after tomorrow, and they are reallizing these things are quite possible. Read chapter 24 of Mathew in the bible and see where you think we are in the stream of time. Note it says that before this generation falls away in death the end of this system would bge here...doesn't say the end of the world.......

Well, my grandparents weren't born until after the world ended, but my great-grandparents had to deal with it. I've not heard much about it, but I think times were pretty tough. I'm actually surprised that I'm sitting here now.

That's odd. A couple of minutes after I was born, my grandfather told me to be wary of 06-06-06.

Mythical subjects can be a lot of fun but you will always find the odd fools who believe in them.
My Grandparents are educated and didn't give it a second thought.
