Although some feel like stigmata is a psychosomatic disorder, This has rarely been the case. Some people who fake stigmata suffer from Munchausen syndrome which is characterised by an intense desire for attention. If the stigmata is truely self inflected it would be a psychological disorder..
In supposed real Stigmata, the blood flows freely and cannot be stopped with traditional medical care. Faked Stigmata are superficial and heal quickly. In real stigmata, blood will appear fresh and of a bright, deep color. The blood flow will often go against the laws of gravity. The stigmata are usually received with states of extreme ecstasy.

Yes, I believe that scientifically, it would be considered to be a psychological disorder.
I think that it would be someone who has such a strong belief in the idea of stigmata that they would cause their body to act out the belief.
Probably similar to a hypochondriac, but on a much much larger scale.
On the other hand, if you are religious, then I suppose it would be akin to seeing a miracle.
Hope that this helps.
Love as always,
Sebastian

Stigmata are bodily marks, sores, or sensations of pain in locations corresponding to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus Christ. The stigmata is not psychological but the act or psychosis which leads you to believe that you have stigmata is a psychiatric disorder like schizophrenia where you experience delusions of grandeur.

well after all your answers I do not believe it is a psycological craziness here , I do believe this does happen and not in science in religion. There has been alot of proof brought up in this world about it. Besides watching the ovie "stigmata", that alone brings you to a insight on it. It's I believe is the spiritual warfare within. But who is to say. Study or read up on it. And believe in your own beliefs.

It is considered a miracle since according to science, including psychology, it is totally impossible. I assume you are talking about stigmata(5-b). It means many things like to lead(1) is good but eating lead(2) can kill you.

No. Psychological problems are, experienced in the head, imagined or whatever. Stigmata is a physical thing, that is shown and everyone can see it.

It is the reverse. psych disorders are still a stigma. So never say you have one on an employment application if you think it will not interfere with your job description or you may cut yourself out of a good job
