u first must now the fact that muslims never eat pork at all, EVER. it is totally against their religion and they never eat it. The reason for that is when, in the past the story about when it rained 40 days and 40 nights, they had broughten 2 of each animals on the boat with them and they knew that someone had to get rid of the animals "Buisness". The pig eats "buisness just to tell you, so the pig at all the "buisness'' of the animals, there are other reasons but that is the one i remember right now. also pigs are not clean, that is a reason.
Halal meat is different then the other types of meat, before we kill or in other words cut it, we say a prayer for it and say holy things before we cut it,or in other words, it is killed witjout being in a lot of pain( i know getting cut is pain but anyways compared to others muslims cut them in the most careful and less painful way) and when we do it we cut start by cutting the neck but we make a little cut that lets out a lot blood , and it takes all the bacteria or the bad stuff in the animal they are killing out. ( other people just make a big cut through the neck and that doesn't take all the blood and stuff and bad stuff out). they are very clean as u can see. They only eat halal meat.
next time she comes u can cook her something with halal meat or something that is with vegetable or you can cook her seafood because they can eat that, it doesn't have to be halal.

Ok im not Muslim but I know what Halal is from having Muslim freinds. It is basically teh way the animal is killed and how it was prepared before and after the slaughter. The is a prayer said to the animal just before it gets killed, like a thanks prayer, and then its throat is slit and it is bled.
Muslims dont eat pork or its deritives as they percieve the pig to be a dirty animal. I suggest you search the internet for food acceptable to Muslims and I congratulate you being considerate and respectful to your friends religion!

Halal doesen't mean holy it means clean. Muslims don't eat pork because God stated it is unclean. The best thing you could do is probably offer her a vegetable dish because you don't have to worry about the meat.

well, first I have to appreciate the fact that you consider your friends choice and you try to understand the differences.

it is worthy to mention that you can serve her a plate of fish or sea food with vegetables since it is 100% halal to moslims.

yet, what halal meat actually means the slaughtering of animals according to the Islamic way or Jewish way or Christan way but be careful I say slaughtering not shooting as mainly done in most western countries today; to be clear, the animal should be slaughtered in any of the three devine religions way of slaughtering but not killed by means of shooting or electrical shock prior to its slaughtering.

if you are in the states just look around an Islamic center you will find butchers who sell HALAL meat mainly moslim ones; otherwise vegetarian or fish plate will be an excellent idea.

thanks once again for your understanding toward your friend, it is highly appreciated and she will like your idea...

good luck....

FIRST ITS NOT MY OPINION
SECOND IM NOT MUSLIM - but this gives what it is and why..

Most butchers have to stun animals first
The method of animal slaughter used by Jews and Muslims should be banned immediately, according to an independent advisory group.
The Farm Animal Welfare Council (FAWC), which advises the government on how to avoid cruelty to livestock, says the way Kosher and Halal meat is produced causes severe suffering to animals.

Both the Jewish and Muslim religions demand that slaughter is carried out with a single cut to the throat, rather than the more widespread method of stunning with a bolt into the head before slaughter.

Kosher and Halal butchers deny their method of killing animals is cruel and have expressed anger over the recommendation.

'Clearly suffering'

One worshipper at the Central London Mosque told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "Everything about the Islamic way of life is under attack so it makes you wonder if this is actually about humanity to animals."

Peter Jinman, president of the British Veterinary Association said vets respected people's religious beliefs, but urged Muslims to be respectful of animals too.

The brain is instantaneously starved of blood and there is no time to start feeling any pain

Muslim Council of Great Britain

"We're looking at what is acceptable in the moral and ethical society we live in," he told Today.

FAWC said it wanted an end to the exemption currently allowed for Kosher and Halal meat from the legal requirement to stun animals first.

It says cattle can take up to two minutes to bleed to death - amounting to an abuse of the animals.

"This is a major incision into the animal and to say that it doesn't suffer is quite ridiculous," said FAWC chairwoman, Dr Judy MacArthur Clark.

Compassion in World Farming backed the call, saying: "We believe that the law must be changed to require all animals to be stunned before slaughter."

'Way of life'

Muslims and Jews argue that their long established method of slaughter results in a sudden loss of blood from the head, causing animals to feel virtually nothing.

Q&A: Animal slaughter

They say they will fight any attempt to prevent a practice required by their religion and central to their way of life.

One rabbi, who had been practicing the Jewish method of animal slaughter for around 40 years, told BBC News: "The process takes a fraction of a second.

"With a very, very sharp knife all the vessels in the neck are severed and that means there's no blood going to the brain and the animal loses consciousness very rapidly and dies soon after that."

The Muslim Council of Britain says animals are not distressed when they are slaughtered.

"It's a sudden and quick haemorrhage. A quick loss of blood pressure and the brain is instantaneously starved of blood and there is no time to start feeling any pain," said spokesman Dr Majid Katme.

The Humanists movement, which has previously called for the abolition of ritual slaughter, said ethical values should be put above religious ones.

"There is no imperative for Muslims or Judaists to eat meat produced in this manner," said spokesman Roy Saich.

"There is no reason why they should not simply abstain from eating meat altogether if they do not wish to eat the same meat as the rest of us."

Halal is a process wherein they dont kill animals in one stroke but rather allow them to bleed to death. If you want to feed your friend with meat stuff, u can get halal meat from many shops!! If not feed sea food... there is no halal in sea food, so they ll eat it anyways... Or u can feed them vegetarian food!!!
