Haven't you noticed the cycle yet?
All throughout history Christianity has been called on its bs to the point where people were no longer intersted...then suddenly it changes. Things that were sinful no longer are, things that were ok are now sinful...as if God changed his mind.
The church refused to agree or even listen to claims like the earth revolves around the sun, that its not demons that cause illness, and that [people don't need the church to seek forgiveness. Until attendence became so low, or evidence was so strong against it did the church change its ways.
Its happening now. The church is insisting homosexuality is a sin and therefore a choice. Many are claiming birth control is sinful. They claim Genesis is correct against the mountains of evidence against it.
Now the church is facing low attendence again. Notice, some churches are allowing gays. Some are approving birth control. Some are changing the meaning of Genesis ("well...to God perhaps one day is millions of years"...well if 1 day equals a million years, then the new testament could be a metaphor for a drunk polar bear).
So I guess God is changing his mind again. When he changes it enough for society to not feel the church is suffocating them, they will return.

I believe young ppl brought up in church going homes still care about the church, but choose not to go. In our society today, church going teens are ostracized, it's not cool. At that age, social life is so important, they don't want to rock the boat with their peers. They don't want to look like a goody two shoe. Sad but true. Getting them back is so difficult. However some outreach programs are showing success. They make the programs look cool to teens. They play the popular music, you come dressed as you are, no finger pointing, skate boarding events. A carnival type atmosphere. They don't even care if the kids smoke. Just come, have fun and hear the message in their own vonacular. If reached...the kids change on their own.

So many churches today allow things that used to be called sin. Young people are smart enough to see through that. The shame is that they don't trust any church or denomination. The sad thing is that when a church goes bad-it makes them all look bad. We need to clean up the church first and people will come back, young and old.

To be honest here in the UK religion is on teh decline so much so that churches are actually being sold for residential property. Nature on life, religion is dying off is Europe as we see is more as a hinderance to life. People are just fed up being told that they are full of sin and are going to hell - sorry but thats what it is like, highlighted on here with the evangalists. The church is loosing sway and its only a matter of time before hte institution collapses and people go back to worshiping natural religions.

Some do, and others are not. The young people who do are finding different ways to experience religion outside the church walls. They find God in different ways than just listening to a preacher talk to them. Talk is one thing, but experiencing is another realm in and of itself. You can a person so much about their religion in a church, synagogue or temple. To experience what it feels like to be in touch with God or Jesus or Vishnu or whomever, is a satisfying feeling that touches a person much more than a sermon on Sunday could.

People would go to church if it were a place that they could go to for support. As of now it is more of a place of judgement. Most churches are so busy telling people they are bad when people need to be told how much they are cared about. If most churches would stop judging everyone (which is God's place not the churches) and tried to extend themslevs instead of berate "sins" then people would go.

I think there are some young people out there who really do want to see the will of God done. But there are many out there who have no idea what church is and this is only the fault of us Christians who sat back on our do nothings and do nothing while we let others take God out of our home, schools, and lifes. There is only one way we as Christians can get anything done and it it told to us in 2 Chronicles 2:14 "If my people who are call by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then willl I hear from heaven , and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.:" Notice God said "My People who are call by My name, that means the Christians of the world.

Of course young people still care about religion. They're just discovering, in this age of global communication, that there IS something out there, in the terms of religion, besides what their elders said, and so they're taking the opportunities to question, explore and grow. Let them be happy.

of course youngsters still care. I am 21 and have been going to church since i was 13. it gives value to my life. while other kids are out getting drunk and sleeping around on saturdays id prefer to be at youth group. and on sundays i am helping out with sunday school. this seems nerdy to some people but i think church has made me see the bigger picture and whats most important to me. i think forcing teens to go is quite harsh... unless they are willing to open their eyes to it. But music and a great speaker is always the best way... i love reggie dabbs who speaks to most teens and adolescents whether they are spiritual or not... great speakers are the greatest motivators!!
