I'm so sorry, I lost my dog to cancer a few years ago and I tried to get another dog, but it just wasn't the same. Just keep busy. Tell someone else who knew your dog some funny stories about things the dog used to do.

think of all of the great times you had with your dog. There was so much love and affection (from both sides.) Your dog was loved her entire time on earth and she knew it.
You were lucky to usher your dog into the next life. To be in one's last moment and know that you are loved and safe is a very good thing. You did the most and best you could.
It hurts. I know. Consider the possibility of getting another dog. Some people do, some don't. Go with what you feel. If you aren't ready but miss the feeling of having a dog in your life, go to a shelter and visit the dogs or volunteer for dogwalking duty.
you never know what could happen.
I am very sorry for your loss.

I am so very very sorry. I know how painful it is to lose a fur baby. My heart goes out to you.
Beyond the Rainbow
by Cathy Guyan
1995
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wonderous image then of a place that's trouble free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort, as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm all right
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart,
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

I lost my cat 5 yrs ago and they're isn't much anyone can say just remember the good times and consentrate on thinking on getting another pet in the future, you do need time to heal from the loss of your pet, keep pictures around and talk to the picture as if you were talking to the pet tell it how much you miss him or her, soon you will start to feel better about the loss and maybe began to look for another animal,i got a dog a year after my cat passed and she has made my life so much happier, try it it works i did what i'm telling you to do.
