Does Freezing Kill Salmonella

Freezing is not a method of killing bacteria, but refrigeration and freezing DO reduce, slow or stop the growth of bacteria - such as salmonella & e-coli.

Bacteria grows best in temperatures between 40 and 140 F(farenheit). This is why we use refrigerators which are below 40 degrees. This is why when cooking you should always cook foods to a minimum of 140 degrees.

Items such as chicken are recommended to be heated to 160 degrees to be safely cooked.

If you are reheating something that has already been cooked once, it should be heated to 170 degrees.

Also, please note that salmonella and other bacteria is not limited to just chicken and meats. It can also be found on fruit and vegetables as well. It is for this reason that you should always wash all fruits & vegetables before eating and also before cutting.

Also, please be aware that many bacteria are on our hands and can be transferred to food. This is why it is always important to wash your hands frequently. Avoid cross contamination of products by washing utensils, plates, etc., after they've touched raw product and before touching ready to eat product.

I've read & heard that close to 80% of all foodborne illnesses happen in the home due to unsafe food handling practices. Practice safe food handling.

It may slow down the the bacteria, but it probably won't kill it. Just cook it hot enough (like 180 Degrees F) and the salmonella should be gone.

No freezing won't kill the salmonella. Always cook well.

I don't think so. You have to cook it thoroughly to properly kill salmonella and E. Coli.
