My husband and I are disputing whether me having the need to be right all the time, is me being self centred.

No, what you are describing is a compulsion, a mild form of the disorder that is illustrated in the TV show, Monk.

It's you being close-minded and rather opinionated to think that you can possibly be right all the time in the first place. No one is right all the time. It takes a certain level of maturity and understanding to admit the times when we're not right. So in a way you are being self centered to think that you way is always the right way.

The question is, "Is the need to be right all the time, being self-centered?". Then the answer is no. Perfectionist is the right term. That is if what you mean is that you always wanted to be right, and you are always right. But if you always wanted to be right even if sometimes your not, then yes. You are being self-centered.

No, it is egotistical.It is not the need to be right, you think you are right.Give the hubby a break. You are not right all the time. Everyone is entitled to opinion, and it's not always yours.
